laptop needed with good graphics card

    hope someone can help ...
my daughter wants a new laptop for her birthday, but we havent got a clue when it comes to which one to get her,
wed like it to be under £500 ,duel core, not sure on screen size, but shed like it to be able to run games like sims ,rollercoaster tycoon 3 ect, and hopefully good enough graphics that we dont have to updrade it again for a few years(we bought her a cheap one last year just to on line but its nowhere near good enough to run any half decent gmes.)
we were looking at the dell 6400 or the vostro (the vostro seems to have dedicated graphics)but are not sure if the vostros worth the extra money..

£500 + best battery times = Dell with a 9 cell and using the laptop on all the lowest (read: squinting) levels. (get a power plug extension cord?)

Thursday MikeT does his Dell magic posting up all the new deals.

I got a relative a Vostro 1700 with a 9cell in August, nice build quality, the 1500 is worth it.

However expect to spend £30-£60 extra for the nice graphics options to play those games, not doing so means putting up with a crippled far less powerful gfx card, laptops never have or will do the latest games properly (unless you can spend £2k+ on a laptop) they're a fraction of the big beasts a proper desktop PC cards power wise and value wise a pc graphics card is 3-5x+ more bang for your buck than a laptop gfx card.
