AVG for anti-virus

ZoneAlarm as a firewall

Spybot & Ad-Aware for spyware

Check ]dowmload.com for them

All are available for free.

i use avast for my anti virus on my xp laptop and find that to offer good protection. (I've never had any viruses or spyware enter my system, btu i also have a triple firewall on my router so that helps as well.)

Would agree with spybot and zonealarm.

Avg is also goo, but i prefer avast. (Just a personal preference.)

I try a lot of spyware packages and one of my favorites is avg anti spyware, This is good for any users and i often recommend it to clients/family/friends! the nice thing about it is that it auto updates without the user having to press any buttons. i see a lot of people with anti virus and spyware that still have infections as the either dont run it or don't update it.

There's no need to buy anti virus software for personal use. If yo uwanted to use the advanced features of zone alarm then it would be worth purchasing. I use windows firewall, but only because my router has a triple firewall, if it didn't then i would use zone alarm
