As above really went to turn on my laptop but it wont, either with the battery or the ac adapter, the green light comes on the adapter so i presume thats working ok,

but no noise comes on when i try to turn it on and it has not been dropped as it was working fine day before yesterday,

just wondered if anyone knew what could be wrong with it

any help appreciated thanks

If no sound is coming out then the PSU is dead - either a blown fuse or a terminal illness. (Hope it's a blown fuse, as that's much cheaper to fix).

Are you getting any lights on the Laptop at all ?

How old is your laptop?

Will your laptop wotk with the battery removed and just the ac adaptor plugged in. (only a few do this but it is worth a try).

Does your adaptor feel warm to the touch when your 'trying to charge' the Laptop ?

Make and model of the Laptop may also help.

As above - what model laptop?

Keep the power-on button depressed for a few seconds, say 10.

Yup this is the equivilant of the reset button on a pc, then when all the lights go out press the on button again and it should reboot :-D

Interesting. Your power options on "lid closure" may be set to hibernate the operating system, in which case my earlier response should fix it. Happened once on my daughters Inspiron which had been configured by Dell to hibernate Vista on closing the lid; needed a long button depression to resume it.

Good luck.
