Found 8th Jun 2008
Evening all,

Looking at booking a trip to Las Vegas in late August but trying to find the best possible deal and hotel isn't easy! I've tried expedia and Lastminute with varying dates.

We really want to stay on the strip and will book excursions to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, if money permits San Francisco too.

Looking to go no earlier than 25th August for 7 - 10 days.

'er indoors refuses the Stratosphere which is a shame becuase it seems a great price. Seem to have the hotels down to shortlist of:

MGM
Excalibur
Hard Rock
Mandalay Bay

Anyone stayed at any of the strip hotels and want to reccomend one? Or any other websites with good prices for this time of year?

Thanks in advance

Try Orbitz.com for searches, really good for me we got the Bellagio for our stay late Sept for a great rate!

My son & his gf got back from Las vegas a couple of weeks ago ... it cost them oer £300 for a helecopter flight to see the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam !!! :w00t:

Cheers Crow but the Orbitz prices are coming up higher than expedia and lastminute for me, Belaggio would be sensational!!!

I know its an odd thing but Vegas will be our Honeymoon - Im not into beach resort holidays so this is the closest compromise we could find. Or as people keep saying why go to the city of sin AFTER you get married

Snowtoger it is supposed to be absolutely stunning day out though - lot of money but guess you only live once

i know you said you want to stay on the strip, however downtown hotels are much cheaper and busses go 24hrs.

as for trips, the best is is you hire a car for a couple of days.

Stayed at Treasure Island twice great place to stay and was fairly cheap as they were doing a deal on it. Definitely do the helicopter into the grand canyon btw its awesome

Like the visitvegas site - map is really helpful  Writing prices against them on the map somehow makes more sense

Treasure Island does look good, think it works out to just over £100 more than Excalibur for 7 days. Luxor and Mirage have been dismissed due to the amount of building work going on there :x

HI Paul,

Im off to Vegas for 5 nights next month for the first part of my honeymoon. as well.

I recommend trying a good travel agent. I searched high and low for good deals on the net and compared them to prices I got from a few agents.

In the end I got a real good deal (well i think it is. lol) from an agent. Me and the misses will be staying in the Bellagio for £780 for 5 nights.

I used Trailfinders. Hope that helps.

Paul hope you dont mind me asking this question in your thread, I am too looking to do this.

Snowtiger, was that £300 for two people or per person? Do you know which company it was? All the prices I have seen so far cost too much! :x

That does seem cheap for the Belaggio

Will call trailfinders tomorrow and see what i can find out.

expedia.co.uk/pub…oc= not sure if that link will work but that was the expedia activities page for las vegas with the grand canyon flight trips etc

Yeah a friend of mine recommended it, saying eventhough its prob the best hotel (at the moment in vegas) it is quite reasonable, mainly because they want to tempt you into the casinos. lol.

Trail Finders were the best I come across. HOpe it helps matey

Have you tried ]tripres.com ?

Just got back from Las Vegas. Stayed at the Bellagio for 7 days. Most amazing hotel and the most central. Most people think it is still the best in Vegas. Did the Grand Canyon trip - we booked it there with Papillon, worked out about £200 each. We were picked up by Limo , landed in the Grand Canyon for a picnic and at the end had a helicopter ride over the Strip - lifetime experience.

I went to vegas back in march and used Papillon helicopters (recommend them), cost us $137 each but worth every penny!

Use Scenic to fly to the Grand Canyon West Rim, much deeper part. Book their trip which also includes helicopter, they use Papillon. You also get to spend some time at the rim for great photos. A day trip to the Hoover Dam is well worth a go, in 2005 I paid £29 which included a buffet lunch.
