    Lidl Return Policy

    Hi,
I purchased some remote control electrical sockets from Lidl about 8 months ago and some of them have stopped working. I bought them in a store in Edinburgh but I have now moved over 45 miles away. Does anyone know what their policy on returns is i.e. would I be able to take the faulty item back to a local store even though I didn't purchase it there?

    Thanks for your help.

If you still have your receipt I can't see it being a problem.
When I worked in retail we would sort it out regardless of which store it was bought at.

But will you be allowed now that its been used and its been 8 months?

Depends on how long these kind of things are expected to last - the sale of goods act 1979 gives the consumer a fair bit of protection. you need to argue that they're not of 'satisfactory quality' (that's section 14 of SGA). If you argue politely you may be successful. Try your local store first, then if you don't have any luck, try emailing/mailing the head office.
    Good luck!

Come to thnk of it, if only some of them have stopped working, you could argue that they may have some kind of 'latent defect' i.e. something that you would only find out by using them for a period of time, and something that is not immediately obvious on first inspection. This is supported by the fact that some of them are continuing to work fine, even after 8 months, whereas the 'faulty' ones have given up.

Not sure you'll get any joy after 8 months, sounds like more of a warranty problem to me...

If I was the retailer I would refuse a refund but sort the goods for you under warranty...I think that would be most appropriate in this case..:)

    Hi,
thanks for the input. They come with a 3 year guarantee so that should be ok. my main qyestions was whether I would ba able to take them back to any Lidl store as the one that I originally purchased them from is miles away from where I now live.

    Thanks again
