    Lifestyle survey calls from India

Hello. I am getting constant upto 10 times a day calls from India asking for lifestyle surveys. I have tried blocking number but seems they use so many different ones. I have even done the survey as they promised I would be taken off the list but still get calls.

How can I get the calls stopped?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    New number.

    You believed them? oh dear

as benjammin316 stated new number - don't give it out to unnecessary people/businesses and get a PAYG sim for those you need a number but know it's going to be "sold on"

Just be extremely rude to them each time they call. They'll soon stop.

I don't have my land line plugged in anymore due to this. the only calls I got were sales, survey, PPI and accident ones.

My missus & I got fed up with cold calls (also run business from home) so we got a BT8500 Advanced Call Blocker twin set, works a treat, not had one single cold call since fitting & setting up (you may need caller display enabled for it to work at it's best). We got when it was £39.99 (deal was posted here)

Register your telephone number on the telephone preference service. It will help with these type of calls but may not stop this one company if they already have your details.

this does work but only for calls from within the uk, surely India doesn't have to follow the rules?

TPS doesn't work. Most cold calls are from outside of the UK.
As I've said, just be rude/nasty to them. Theyre disturbing you, they are an unwanted nuisance, you havent asked them to call and you have no reason to be polite to them.

It's a shame you can't tell who sells on your number, most companies request the information when you sign up for something. But you have no control over what happens to that information, despite a lot of companies saying they wont pass it on, there is no way of telling if they do or not.

We've recently moved, and the only people have given our new number to is the council ( due to problems with council tax bill), and the amount of sales calls we've had asking for us by name is unbelievable!

    change number

Register with TPS first then any 'nuisance' calls you receive, very firmly insist that they tell you what number they're calling from so that you can report them, don't allow them to launch into their spiel. If they're legitimate they'll give you their number and you then ask for your number to be taken off their records. Other callers will get the message and hang up on you. Job done, firmly but politely.

thanks people. I have been very rude to them before but the caller stated they would call everyday. so annoying and feel helpless. i don't want to change my number as we have had for so long. I will consider a call blocker.

I can highly recommend the BT one I mentioned above, they do single, twin etc handsets (I'm on virgin with caller display which they added for free after a call to them)

OK cheapest option if you don't want to change your number is get an answer machine - one that answers the call after (say 3 rings) and you can hear the caller (tell family/friends so they know to speak "Hit it's Joe Bloggs") if it's family/friends you can pick up the call - if it's one your not interested let it go to answer machine.

I don't find that this method works, I am very rude, or very unhelpful or waste their time and still get plagued by calls.

Bt have a handset I believe that ask them to leave their details before you pick up the handset. If they don't leave details they call does not even get put through, if they do leave details you get to screen the call and not even answer. If its Gary for Bombay for example, I would risk it and not bother picking up the handset.

Best call I had was from a guy who introduced himself with "Hi, I'm David Beckham". I was amazed. He was so good at the South Asian accent. I congratulated him on his successful career change, and in the silence that followed, I hung up.

You haven't been rude enough then. I've had telesales slam phones down, call me a ****, tell me to **** off. The best ones are those that call you from a landline and don't withhold their number. I called one company 45 times in an hour last week and said nothing. I just let them keep saying hello and can you hear me....

I just use an answerphone that answer after two calls silently

and register any uk numbers with the telephone preference service and report them

    works great for me

    probably get one a week

and NEVER give your telno out to anyone online unless essential - use a fake oneif you cant order etc without one.

DON'T ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS!! I answered some questions about what make our washing machine was then ended up getting calls from a company wanting to sell us washing machine breakdown cover!! IF YOU GIVE THEM MORE INFORMATION YOU'LL GET MORE CALLS!!!

We used to get lots of calls so we got the bt call blocker already mentioned above. Now we get no calls. We got ours here: telephonesonline.co.uk/bt-…tml it's a refurb but came in vgc and we've had no problems with it

your post does not mention it was A landline. and as you posted via an android device, one could only assume you were referring to your mobile phone.

It is landline and thanks again to the people who have made good suggestions

I usually ask for a password, and then when I get the puzzled silence declare I've got to go as they don't know the password to speak to me.

Just tell them they have rang a church or say "Hi you have reached international pharmacies this call will be charged at a premium rate of $15 per minute" the scum will never call again
