wow what a coincidence I went there on the 9th for an open day and was planning to attend this year as well

I'm no help now but I went there about 10 years ago... the nightlife is 2nd to none and its the best place I've lived.

I'll tell you what I think - that I can't believe people who can't even spell, use capital letters, or even even type the name of the university correctly are being let in. :-D

I used to work there, many moons ago. Liverpool is a horrible place now though, but LJM is okay.

    Why do you think this?

Don't go/never been the the uni, but Liverpool is deffinetly a fab city to live in. I live over the mersey from there. There are nightclubs to suit everyone, the shopping is fab, and the uni hasn't got a bad reputation.

I've seen it steadily go downhill over the past decade. The centre used to be okay - the shopping was good, I used to love Bold St - but now the centre is just dirty, tired, full of litter. Bold St is nothing but pie shops, pound shops and greasy cafés. There's absolutely nothing to give it an edge any more. The whole city screams "cheap" these days, and it's a shame. City of Culture? Pffft.

Have you been to Liverpool recently? There are no pound shops on Bold street, haven't been for years. And there is the new shopping centre opening soon.

Come back to liverpool and then make these comments

Yes, I was there over Christmas.

I know there's a lot of city pride from the people of Liverpool, but I just don't think there's much to be proud of any more. I've lived there, I've worked there, I've had my social life based around there, and I can see how much it has changed for the worse.

I can see how the city is changing for the better. So much oppertunity there now. The city is building up. Some parts are in need of repair, but thats the same of every city.

Wtf just read this again, there is probably the best technologically advanced cinema on bold street, fruit shops and specialist food stores that have been there forever as well as bigger companies relocating new stores, HMV and the like, a brand new 3 store 3 storey glass retail development recently built as well as the old post office being ripped out and turned into one of the nicest bistro/restaurants in town...

i was about 5 years old when they had pound shops on bold street...think u need to get your head out your ****

i do think you should visit now mate this is such an outdated opinion ive never seen a city change in such a short space of time. compared to other places it was never "bad" anyway but the whole place has been regenerated rapidly skyscrapers flying up, nearly the whole city has had, roads, pavements, walkways, replaced and theres a new development that is the biggest retail/leisure space in the country....

there isnt one city ive visited that has the same buzz as liverpool and ive been to 15+ in this country and abroad (though thats completly different)

It isnt about pride, most cities you will find pride...its the fact that you probably wont find another place where people are so inviting.

As for the Uni, its got a fairly good reputation alot of people i know went there and got good results and enjoyed it in the process.

Nice. And people wonder why I love the people of Liverpool so much.

It's just not my kind of place, I'm glad I got out. We're all entitled to our opinions, and mine is that Liverpool is no longer a nice place to visit.

but mate you obviously went there years ago..i am not even from liverpool wasnt born there never lived there but do frequently visit it..and its outdated idiotic opinions that give places a bad name...not the place, or people...im sure bristol if an absolute ray of sunshine isnt it? i certainly wouldnt come on the net and vent my anger at it if someone asked about bristol uni

But "mate" I was there 4 months ago, as I said. No, Bristol is a mess too.

yes we are all entitled to our opinions, which is why we chose to respond to yours.

And loads of tourists would disagree with you aswell

Let me guess "The people are friendly and have a great sense of humour." :-D

If it wasn't for The Beatles, there wouldn't BE any tourists. I've never known a city to capitalise on a single aspect for so much of its 'heritage'.

there is alot, other than just the Beatles. It's a historic port city, there is the theatres, the museums, art gallerys, great night life, the albert dock, the ferries, the Matthew street festival, 2 cathedrals, the Phillhamonic pub - with the famous toilets. There is so much to do and see in Liverpool, would the big stores and hotels be investing in the city if there wasn't?

My mates goes there studying drama and he loves, def reccommend liverpool as its brilliant there, well i loved it and he seems to like the uni!

It sounds no different to any other city to me. It's just not my kind of place anymore, I grew out of it. London is far better, I was glad to move there.

There is absolutly no point in argueing, seriously u must have some issues with your eyes....and legs if your opinion of a city is off one street.....and a media orientated perception of a place.

because without the beatles they would have had one of the biggest ports in the world, still to this day, or the beatles they obviously made liverpools nightlife as soon as they were born, oh and wait the beatles they are building the new ports as well as leisure complex's , oh and they had a hand in the liver buildings as well oh and paul still plays left back for Liverpool FC as well.....

The complete lack of appreciation and pride of your own cities and countries is the reason this country is in such a state.

I went there - graduated 2000. IM Marsh campus - Aigburth!!!!

Well i loved every minute there!
