Liverpool's Financial Crisis -£86 million net debt

    Banned
after the announcement of losses in their parent company yesterday, liverpools net debt has just doubled to £ 86 million!!!

does this mean no new blood into anfield and possible sell off of players?

should of thought clubs would of learned from the debarcle at leeds years ago.... but no they continue to operate on borrowed cash

Its crazy. Hope it gets sorted or we can kiss are chances next season goodbye.

Their interest on the loan was £36M.

Makes my overdraft seem quite reasonble now.

Can't see there being much spending going on this summer there (unless they sell first)

Talksport said this morning if their financial situation does not improve they may not be accepted into the ECL for 2010. Only just scraped in for next season apparently.

so much for the "premiership defies downturn" article published yesterday, suprised a few other clubs havnt been hit yet to be honest

We might be crap, always have been and always will be but at least we are financially sound and run by porn business men lol

finacially sound lol.....you just wasted your budget on an unknown 10 million....:p

have to say leeds at their height of debt was only just over 100 million lol

It's not just Liverpool. It's all of the top 4, and probably more.

Liverpool itself is in pretty good shape, and made a £10m profit. It's the parent company, that Hicks and Gillette set up, that is inuring the losses

I hate it when fans say "we need to spend £20-30M this summer" as if it is nothing to the club.

As proved even the top flight clubs are being hit and as smithy says (I don't like agreeing with him tho)
better to be financially sound and stay up rather than go all out for glory and end up falling like Leeds, newcastle etc.

The club's turnover was a record £159.1million compared to £133.9million the year before, with a profit of £10.2million.

That was reflected by a similar turnover for Kop Football (Holdings) of £164million - most coming from the football club - but the overall loss of £42.6million.

    For comparison

Manchester United's parent company, Red Football Joint Venture, has made a pre-tax loss of £44.8m ($65.6m) largely due to interest payments on its debt.

The figures cover the 2007/08 season, when United won the Premier League and Champions League, and take the Red Football's debt from £604m to £649.4m.

Has anyone got Chelsea's figures? bet they are frightening.

Come to think of it what will RM's be if they sign Kaka and Ronaldo?

differnce is that debt was a loan to buy the club in the first place of 790+ million in 2005.....so that debt is reducing

    different scenario im afraid

Makes you fear for the true supporters of chelsea and man city.

It isn't looking good for Newcastle, particularly in light off their recently acquired Championship status.

thats it ..... look at ashley at newcastle hes thrown away like 250 million quid in his little toy

this business is so reliant on debt these days and clubs doing well

    It's not good for football.

Soon you'll find that most clubs will have to be run by some form of tycoon, just to be competitive.

Yet clubs are still talking about crazy £50+ million pound price tags for players and wages only lottery winners can compare with.

Won't be long before some more "big" clubs follow the downward spiral of Leeds, Newcastle etc.

I agree they need to cap the whole lot.

I've never really understood why it's allowed for someone ( say the Liverpool duo) to come along and buy a club with borrowed money and then the club belongs to a new company which is already vastly in debt, whereas before the club didn't have much debt to speak of. Why aren't there rules to say that you actually have to finance the company and the club separately?

Next season for Leeds to start the rise to back where they belong!!

Totally agree. Someones personal debt (because they couldn't afford to buy in the first place) should have zero to do with the club.

How long do you think it'll take to get to the championship?

2 seasons to premiership with season ticketrs starting at £440-£640 we will be the richest club in the world......spending it on new bloody lawnmowers to get the "edge" over the likes of walsall lol

Leeds United buy cutting edge pitch technology

    Cutting edge technology for United

    Published Date: 05 June 2009
Leeds United could just have the edge next season, after signing up a new pitch ace.
Leeds United Football Club has bought a Toro Reelmaster 3100-D as part of a plan to replace a mower each year for the next three years.

The machine is used on the ground's undulating surfaces and small banks.

with these new signings premiership is within reach:thumbsup:

I've heard we have been accepted into this years champions league already.
I'ts just the refinancing of the loan which is due on the 24th July. It has been mentioned that G&H may have to sell some of their franchised ice hockey teams or let another investor enter the fray to help ease the pressure of the outstanding debt.
Unfortunately, I guess the 'new' Anfield will be put on the back burner as well, for now.
