im having a rant at my local council, my bin day is wednesday and for the past month maybe more for some reason they have only been coming every other week, so ive been getting over run with rubbish and when they empty the bin its full up straight away with all the rubbish from my bin not being emptied the week before. so i rang up last week to find out why and she couldnt tell me, its still not been emptied from wednesday just gone, ive got bags with baby nappies, cat litter and general rubbish in so ive put them out on the street with the bin, anyway i rang up half an hour ago and asked again she said they wouldnt take any extra bags so at that point i had a right go at her, she told me to take them back in the house, my kitchen is small enough as it is plus its not very hygienic when ive got a baby in the house. she then said its classed as fly tipping. im paying for a service which isnt being done and there getting paid for a job there not doing properly, i dont see why they cant take extra bags if they have failed to empty the bins one week its only commen sence that people will have double the rubbish the week after. if i didnt pay my council tax on time they wud have the bailifs round in no time.
rant over lol

i asked if had been changed to fortnightly and she said no, we havent got recycle bins but while on the phone to them i ordered some, its not just my bin its the whole streets, its so annoying though, i dont know what they expect me to do with all the extra bags if they wont take them.

Our council collects black then green/blue on alternative weeks, it works absolutely fine and its amazing how much we now recycle - out of interest which council is it ?

Welcome to my world. Only suggestion is to take excess rubbish to your local rubbish dump... or start recycling more! Sorry.

i understand i should start recycling more and have now ordered the extra bins, but i shouldnt have to waste my time going to the local rubbish tip when im paying for the council to empty my bin.

Take it to the Reebok stadium and see how much they offer.:)

We only get ours uplifted every 2 weeks - our bin is never more than half full after that time - now our council have improved the recycling provision.

Recycling will help you out - although they should have uplifted them in the first place.

Give them a call and ask to speak to the head of cleansing - explain your problem calmly but firmly and get him/her to agree to them undertaking a special uplift for you.
