london hotel

im looking to go to london for one night at the start of februar. I've never been befor so was wondering if someone could reccommend a good website that i could get a good deal from. Also we want to catch a show in the west end while we are there so where would be the best area to stay. I would really appreciate anyone who could post some advice. Thnx.

I booked a cheap hotel through lastminute and found it more basic than basic - twin room had bunk beds!!! so personally I would avoid them but there are great deals out there at the mo - Try best western website - I managed 2 nights DBB near cheddar for 2 ppl in feb for £95 total. or get the saturday mail and look at the hotel chains offering 2 for 1 or half price. There are loads in there. The best way I have found to buy theatre tickets is to go to the actual theatre and buy on the day - they apparently release some daily for sales 'in person'. Tried a ticket seller in leicester sq and after sending his 'runner' twice and both times he came back empty handed the bloke refunded me the money and told me to go to the theatre myself. Google 'london theatres' to see whats playing where and then you can see the best areas to stay. We stayed near victoria station. Very easy to get anywhere with the tube and buses so i wouldnt worry too much

Travel lodge are fairly cheap and clean £70 for a family room, the one at kings cross is ideal for travelling in to town,3 underground stops to covent garden or £10 in a taxi.

Feb 3rd is earliest but you may get a £15 room - they are actually pretty decent; try for a family room and you will get a decent size room with double bed.

travelodge.co.uk/sav…ch/ Try a saver search - there are a few London places for £39 or £49 for that date.

Re show tickets, there is a booth at leicester sq (ticket booth) which does daily returns at half price, but you have to take pot luck. they update their site between 10-11am with what is available. www.officallondontheatre.co.uk/tkts
