HI guys,
I am babysitting a 7 year old boy for a few hours this Friday evening and was looking for suggestions of activities we could do. I have looked after him before, but we usually just play computer games, and was looking at other things we could do taht he would still find fun. I read somewhere that cooking maybe a good idea, something fun like brownies etc. Just wondering what other people can suggest.

Thanks all

Take him down the park with a ball and have a kick about with him and then buy him some food.

What time Friday evening ? If early enough do you have any indoor play areas you could take him. Try an outdoor activity if not, wear him out lol

It's going to be after I finish work I think, so around 6isjh. I would have loved to have a kick about, as I know he loves playing football, however I think it will be too dark by then. Do you think he would like to go for a short jog?

I have volunteered myself to the local dogs home.

So that me and my neighbour's son can walk a dog for a couple of hour's every weekend.

Make some toffee apples and do some apple bobbing!

this!

My son loves nothing more than having a couple of hours chasing after a football then going for a bite to eat. Dont though, let him have this time sitting in front of a computer game as no interaction there!

I like that idea DLM, it's so important to not be cooped up in the house all the while.

I have just had a great idea, although I think it maybe difficult to pull off in the time frame, but doing a treasure hunt. I could do a few cryptic clues ok, like back to front writing where you need to use a mirror etc.

I also live in a old converted pub, and I'm quite scared to go in the basement, but could have a clue that means he has to look down there. I also live near a small park also. So I could bury another clue very shallow, that he has to dig up. No ideea what I could use as the overalll prize thugh. Or if I will have time to set it up, as I'm at work tomorrow also.

ANyone think this is a good idea? if so, any good ideas for clues? Bear in mind I live in a smallish flat on the third floor. I do have a roof terrace also which I could use (It's all very safe) and could use the close area around me also (park etc)

your putting too much worry and thought into this - keep it simple!!! Honestly at that age he will enjoy as Choc says, swimming, or even watching a movie with a big bowl of popcorn - dont go overboard or u will freak him out!!

Thanks for the jogging advice bossyboots. I was hopingthat would be the case, as I didn't fancy jogging either lol. If it's still light I think footie is a great idea. Toffee apples would also be cool. Thanks for all the advice people, I'm sure he'll have a great time.

Knock a door run!!

lol at knock a door run, that's what I used to do. I also heard someone mention hedge hopping on a thread on here recently. That brought back lots of fun memories also.

Once again people, thanks for all of your help. With all of the suggestions above. I'm sure he'll have a great time. I'm just checking out the websites now also.

Just keep it simple and he will have loads of fun! Our old dog is hysterical and one of our favourite games we play is hide and seek with our dog X) She is so obedient and will sit and stay when told............so we tell her to sit/stay.......stay............stay..............STAY............ and then run and hide somewhere and when we are in place we shout COME ON HAGGIS, COME ON!!! and you hear her belting up the stairs and running all over the place for us! Its brilliant! Our best hiding place is in the bath with shower curtain pulled around us as that just gets her lol or under the duvet !!

I dont mind lending you our dog as long as you are willing to pay her train fare which of course must be first class and only be fed fillet steak washed down with a nice chardonnay

If he's anything like my 7yr old nephew,as above,he loves footy in the park and Maccies

Cinema / Cooking / Park / Science centre / Zoo or even Jenga for a short while

be creative, buy a pack of coloured shapes, glitter, card and some glue and you wont hear a peep from him for hours

How about getting him to do your ironing ?? oO

Cooking / Baking would be great fun, why dont you make some buns or a cake for his mum ?
