Looking at buying an external hardrive for my Dad for his Xmas

Any recommendations? Not sure how big it would need to be, only for photos, maybe a few videos, movies.

    Cheers!

bought it from Amazon direct, 1TB size should be fine for what you need it for,it's a lot of space.

I have been using this connected to a server hosting TV torrents.

Its far cheaper to run 24/7 than the servers external RAID system.

So - it has a five year warranty - and runs quiety.

Additionally - it was picked up from a local shop - so no postage and pretty convenient too.

The torrents are backed up - so it can fail as often as it wants up to five years and...

    1. I dont care if it fails as they will replace it and its backed up.

    2. It costs far less to run than the servers original SCSI RAID box.

    3. Local pick up and 5 year warranty. - So cost 30p a week - which is more than it saves on power from the set up mentioned above.

    ONLY DOWNSIDE

    Quidco never tracked

Go for it - I cannot fault it - and its running constantly.

I just noticed - you are in Glasgow - I got mine at Braehead - evening pick up - no problem.
