Looking for 5ghz fibre router: Lynksis EA6300, TP Link WDR3600 or TP Link WDR4300 ?

    HI,

My talk talk fibre router doesn't have 5ghz and I can't get their super router HG635 for a good price so I was thinking to get one of the models mentioned in the title?

    Which one is best?

    Thanks

What are you looking to get out of the Router. Custom firmware, good Ethernet routing , wide wifi range, fast wifi speed. Lot's of different options but also depends on how many wifi aerials the device you're connected to has.

    thanks for your reply.

No custom firmware or advanced things.
I just want to get better wifi speed (I suppose all the modsl will give me a good wifi range because my house isn't too big).

The maximum number of devices connected usually is 1 computer via ethernet, 1 ps4 via ethernet, upto 3 laptops via wifi and 3 smartphones.
But most of the times it's just 1 computer and PS4 via ethernet, 2 laptops on wifi and the smartphones.

So far I don't have any complains about the ethernet speeds of the crappy talktalk router but with wifi it sucks a bit and I need 5ghz in order to be able to have better experience doing Remote Play from PS4 to my smartphone

Ok, it's just because a lot of the newer technology uses MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) this allows you to combine WIFI channels and frequencies to give you faster internet but you need a device with more aerials to get the whole lots out of it.

It might be worth you going for a better WIFI AC router if you have devices that have more aerials.

    So any suggestion?

To be fair even if with the crappy talktalk router I'm getting half speeds of what I should, the main reason why I'm looking after a 5ghz router is because "smartphone connected to Dualshock 4 + + Remote Play app installed + PS4" = not good due to some bluetooth or wifi interferences.

Several users tested that the performance for that particular use improves drastically with a 5ghz router, so that's the main reason why I want me (and also because I know I could get better downloads speeds than now).

Although a lot of devices are used via wifi, actually only 2 laptops have a heavey usage... the smartphones are used just for internet browsing and (maybe I'mn wchat apps, so I thoguht one of the cheap routers I mentioned would be enough (maybe I'm wrong)

Thanks mate. But too expensive. I rather stay with the crappy talktalk router even if the wifi performance if half of what it should be

    whats your budget ?

I also have the talktalk fibre router... same situation as you. Will be keeping an eye on any recommendations too.

I was thinking about £50 but just because I thought the routers I mentioned would be good enough for what I want.

yes. I am still on contract so I guess it would be difficult to get it for free. Am I wrong?

I just got a hg635 from talktalk. All i did was put a thread up on the talktalk forum saying i had tried streaming on my youview box and got constant buffering so said i would not be buying any movie or entertainment boosts till i got a new super router. got one within a week it works great. had to buy a new dongle from ebuyer for a tenner but now get 800+mbps
