dont know a great deal about the really techy stuff but Hisense seem to be a brand that's quite popular at the moment

I got a Hisense M7000 and usually a brand snob more than happy! Brilliant quality on Xbox One S. And 4K HDR films.

Looks good.
To be honest you can't beat going in store and having a look at the tv in action.
I myself was going to buy a tv online by spec alone. But passed by a currys 1 day and popped in for a look and the tv I was gonna buy had a noticeable duller and less colourful picture than the rest. Ended up buying a Samsung, amazing picture.

I would highly advise getting the higher model LG from Curry's, not sure what price it is now but was £749 a couple of weeks ago. better picture, better remote, 3D, more ram and prossessor power for webOS etc etc

Except in Currys you can't tell if the TVs have all been set up similarly, It could easily have been set to the realistic mode when all the TVs around were on Vivid.

You either need to go to your local TV specialist if you want to scrutinise things or buy based on reviews (specs are often meaningless).
