Looking for a cheap/decent price studio flat in Brighton

i currently got a job offer in Brighton and in need for a place to rent for a single person. went into lots of property to rent websites and most of the to let seems to range around 400-ish to 500 pcm. anyone with a better deal than that? am currently staying at some friends' house in Southampton and travelling by car to work every day. any form of help will be awesome.

Thats crazy,I've just looked at Your Move website and the cheapest is £475 mth.

Going through a letting agency and such, they always charge fees, sometimes just to look round, even to put in to the landlord that you want it,they charge to take the references etc.
So because of this in the past,I won't go to a letting agency and have always looked in the local newspapers and in shops windows, newsagents etc.
Sorry thats all I can suggest cos I no longer rent privately anymore and I expect things have changed, and Brighton quite popular for students etc,I bet they take advantage and put up the prices, but then with the price of mortages, its no wonder the landlords up the rent to cover it all and make some profit at end of it.

I suppose you gotta think what it is costing you in petrol, and then consider how much you would like to pay for flat and add the cost of petrol to see if its anywhere nr the £400-500 a mth rent.

i live close to brighton and if you drive i would recommend actually lookin to rent o/s of brighton eg rottingdean/saltdean/peacehaven/newhaven/seaford area or even portslade area to the other direction, not only is brighton mega high rent but also terrible for parking!

all have bus routes into brighton as well and easy access to the a27 to make traveling only 15/20 minutes
