Ps this shop is beside where I live for deals maybe?

A word of advice if your not spending much money on a bike, do not get a full suspension bike unless you are going to be using it off of roads and footpaths or even flat grass spaces. Only get one if you are going to use it on bumpy terrain, as when you peddle you loose up to 1/3 of the power due to the rear shock eating your energy rather then pushing you forward. On the more expenisve full suspension bikes you can lock the rear shock off on flat surfaces which helps so much.
So if you are not going to be using it much and you have not had a bike in years you will feel it a lot more and it will be less enjoyable riding it. If i was you i would go for a front suspension mountain bike, these are called hardtails, hope that helps

    I would agree 100%

Cheap bikes are NEVER nice to ride

Personally i use a road bike, but of course it depends on where you want to cycle.

Good luck from a fellow NorthEasterner, Whitley Bay

Maybe have a look at Evans at the Metro Centre

I bought a Kona smoke off Ebay!! Brand new for 190 delivered. best bike I could have bought, I was a lardy 24 stone when I bought it, am 21 stone now and dropping weight with little effort.

Kona smoke is a hybrid bike so ok on the road and ok off road too. it has NO suspension so don't be planning any rough downhills on it

i'm 6ft and bought a 20", i figure i could have got by with an 18" tbh!! i bought a rack from aldi last time they had offers and it does everything i want from an all rounder.

one 18" for sale on ebay just search "kona smoke" or go direct to rutlandcycling website and don't forget quidco (5%)

You think any good ones will be about for about 100?

Does it need to be new? A cheap bike can ruin your experience and is likely to go unused. You will also find that off brand components made to the cheapest possible cost do not last. Since most of these bikes are ridden once or twice and then set aside, this doesn't matter. You should be able to find a good brand used bike with little effort. Gumtree and eBay or your local ads paper are all good places to check.

As for sizes, 26" is a wheel size. 26" wheels are most commonly found on mountain bikes 27" or 700c wheels are mainly found on road and hybrid bikes. The frame size can be measured in inches or cm. As Pontprennau says, 20" should be perfect for someone who is 6'. 18" is probably acceptable, albeit slightly less comfortable, but it depends on the geometry of the bike. If the measurements are in cm I would go for a 58cm frame. The best thing to do is to test the bike first and preferably have it adjusted to fit you. That's the big disadvantage of purchasing from Argos/ a supermarket and in general eBay. If you can't test it you wont know if it fits, and how well it rides.
