Looking for a desktop PC

    Hi Guys,

    My Dad is looking for a new PC, he has a decent monitor so that isn't really essential. Any opinions on this one:…618

    Any alternatives?

    Thanks, rep for any advice

    * Intel® Core™2 Quad processor Q8300
    * Intel® G41 express chipset

    alright cpu but intel have moved on to i5 and i7 etc, so theres not much scope for upgrading

    * 4 GB DDR3
    * 2 DIMM sockets

    probably 2x 2gb installed in only 2 slots - so again upgrading is a pain.

    Hard Drive

    * 1 TB SATA 3G (5400 rpm)

    probably fine but doesn't say cache size and faster hd's are 7200rpm

    also no wireless adaptor

    its an alright pc, but personally i would wait for another hot dell deal like the vostro, it was an i7 processor, not great but better graphics and i think it had 4 slots for memory at around the same price.

    i'm sure some people will disagree....

    Hi, if he will not be doing any gaming or there is any need for a graphics card then I would take a look at the one below: has 4gb RAM, 7200rpm HDD.

    "Primo Drone" AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 245 2.90GHz DDR2 System £248.99

    Thanks for your advice guys.

    He wont be using it for gaming, and the router is right next to his computer so the wireless is also not an issue.

    Think I will wait a bit longer.

    rep for your both

    Tried leaving rep, but don't think you can do it in the old way...I "liked" both of your comments though, and I guess thats the same
