Looking for a funky Graphic Designer for a training brochure??

Hi all

I provide training and development across the UK for a not for profit organisation and I am looking for a funky catalogue for our training seminars for 2011. I like the idea of making it look more like a magazine than a corporate brochure?

This will be the first time I’ll be creating the brochure as I have recently taken on more responsibility for the training. It has been a tough couple of years for training and I now take on the risk of paying for everything myself. I am looking to do things a bit ‘different’...

Over the last few years the ‘Seminar Brochure’ of which the design was out of my hands has been very business looking....i.e...if the brochure looks boring then the training will be boring! And believe me, it looks very boring! It has the old style stock images of people sitting at a table etc....yawn!

The training I provide is fun, motivational and interactive and the 2011 brochure needs to reflect that.

I like the idea of a theme such as a Sherlock Holmes mystery idea.... example of that would be courses titled ‘what killed customer service’ etc... BUT... I am open to fresh ideas.

I also like the idea of colourful artistic cartoon like images. Example of that would be that if the idea of the mystery detective theme was used then lots of fingerprint smudges on the pages and the use of paper clips on the top corners of the page (adds the theme). Some other initial thoughts I had were:

• In’spec’tor Holmes (get it?!) 
• Like our detective, it pays to have an inquisitive mind
• Uncover the solution to success
• Get on the case
• Your mission for 2011 is to put in place a training budget
• The case of the loyal customer
• Seminar #1
• Investigate
• Puzzles to solve
• Elementary

I like the idea of making training sound like fun through text/images and somehow try to build the tension for the new brochure if that makes sense? A lot of people don’t want to attend the training seminars through fear they might be made to look silly, have to do role play (which I don’t do) and be put on the spot! Once people have attended a training day they have a great time and want to do another one! It’s getting them there in the first place! I can gather a few testimonials which will help...maybe speech bubbles from cartoon characters? Anyway, you’re the creative ones!

As a clue... this years catalogue has 16 inserted pages plus the cover and is A4 in size.

If anyone knows anyone or can recommend then I need to know an idea of costs involved so I can look at my options moving forward... it doesn’t have to be A4 by the way.
