Looking for a microchip cat flap or door for a large cat at a good price... Can anyone help?

Hi all

I am looking for a cat flap to install either into the bottom half of a double glazed door or a wall. I have two cats and one of them is rather large, so looking for a larger sized cat flap. I also need the cat flap to have microchip detection as there are lots of other cats around that like to try getting in when the doors open.

Unfortunately microchip cat flaps are super expensive! After just missing out on the Amazon deal for £33 (although this was a standard sized one anyway), I've realised that surely I can find the right cat flap for a decent price, much less than the typical £100 price tags!

The most suitable flap I can find is the Sureflap Pet Door which allows entry for larger cats, however the cheapest I can find is £75.99. Is there anywhere where I can get this cheaper or is there another model around that might suit at a better price?

Be grateful for any advice, thanks!

The price sounds about right for a larger Sureflap - decent brand - also unlikely to come on any Amazon deals being a slightly niche product. Ignoring that, the most expensive part will be installing in the double glazed door.....£x00's to cut and fit the glass.

OK so best to just go ahead and buy and not hope for a discount. Ill be honest I don't think I've ever seen a heavily discounted large cat flap on sale.

Hmmm so if glass cutting is too expensive, I also have the option of installing it into a brick wall. I have a family member who said he would happily do it which would cut the costs. Not sure how difficult this would be though?

try Cat Mate microchip catflap £48.49
if fitting in wall you will need wall liner £9.52

I forgot to say from Amazon

we have a petsafe one and it's absolute rubbish. I have been looking at sureflap as good reviews

Are they big enough for a large, chunky cat?

don't skimp on a cheaper one.

We have a Sureflap one and it's purrfect. Batteries last around 6months, catflap LED blinks when batteries are low.
