Looking for a new pc £300-£400 please

As above, I'm trying to find a decent home desktop for my Dad. He doesn't need it for anything special but doesn't want to have to replace it in a couple years, so needs to be half decent with a good processor.

Also he prefers xp as doesn't have the time to master vista, although maybe he should just learn?!

Rep for the best deal or pointers on where to keep a look out.

I'd stick with XP as long as possible, Vista has some nice bits but seems to introduce all sorts of stability problems into too many PCs to gain an unrestrained endorsement.

Sorry, forgot to mention that there are various upgrade and downgrade options so you could get a bigger hard drive at the expense of a smaller monitor for example.

Thanks Andy, I'd be tempted to add lots of extra's on that as they are good options, trouble is it gets pricey then!

I think my Dad would be put off by it not being a mainstream name, has anyone else got anything to add?
