I'm looking for a pc that can do some low end gaming as I'm short of money and would like to give my son something a bit better than his 5 year old laptop,I know it wont play the latest games but I only have £300 to spend,I have seen one can anyone tell me if ot looks ok for the money, the seller has solid feedback
I'm a full time carer for my mum at home so on a very tight budget so I wont be able to spend more that £300 ebay.co.uk/itm…080

It’s the graphics what will be the issue, you could add a card later on, but the problem with that is these cheap pcs probably have a rubbish psu what won’t be able to handle a dedicated gpu..
If youre willing to partially build it using a guide, you could get second hand parts to make one. These aren't necessarily bad parts, just last gen parts which people no longer want but still decent
Soo your son can run top spec games, here's how. I recommend buying a PC for 180ish with an i7 2nd/3rd in it, then buy a second hand GTX 1060 for roughly 110-120 on auction eBay. Your son will have a good gaming experience and cards are easy to slot in
If you’re on a budget seriously consider building your own. The one on eBay is very poor.

Mobo 40-50 there’s lots of b350 new or nearly new (go on eBay)
Rx 590 130 recent deal new
Ryzen 1200 45 new on amazon
Random case 20
Psu 40

This will play most games and the cpu can be upgraded to a 3600 later on

You could spent about 59 more on the cpu and get a brand new 2600 instead which will make this a beast

Over their budget, besides presumes they have knowledge to build a PC, doubt it very much

Also forgot hard drives, they can't go over 300
Easiest thing to do

rover.ebay.com/rov…157

Will need to buy an 120 GB SSD to boot from to make even faster, costs £20 extra, honestly can't be beaten at this price. This will run 2019 games

I learnt over a 20 minute YouTube video.

It’s not rocket science.

The above config with ryzen 1200 totals 270. 30 will get you a decent low price 250gb ssd. W10 key is £10 on eBay

What about the RAM?
Thanks folks,he says he plays emulator games and he has a second hand low spec pc at his mums house that he says is fine for him whch is this one ebay.co.uk/itm…136 which has a GT710 card so I assumed the one that I picked must be better than that,I'm too lacking in confidence to build my own and have too many troubles looking after my mother with dementia to even find the head space to do that

Not only are you missing parts like hard drive and RAM, you've used abbreviation which they probably won't understand. Its someone super casual, not a PC building forums, I mean just look at the listing they posted, they've got no clue

Sigh. It’s not a complete list, I’m sorry it’s not a complete list. But building your own within that budget is perfectly feasible. That was the point, and given how cheap some components are right now, it would be extremely cost effective and could net the OP a much newer and powerful machine

Hey, definitely get this one rover.ebay.com/rov…157 it'll run the newest games at decent quality for a good while and its only £250. I don't think the deal will be around very long as Its a very good deal for a GTX 1060 pre-built.

She's ruled it out anyways man. Building from scratch isn't always cheaper anyways, but you listed a good budget spec build tbh. You'll be surprised how little non-tech people know, its a joke, when I worked for a PC repair shop, id get orders just doing basic stuff like installing RAM, storage or a graphics card despite vast amounts of info online

It's also 2nd hand and has scratches on it so depends if the op is happy with that

This is a very old PC and would leave no option for upgrading. It has an old motherboard only compatible with ddr3 memory, and a poorly designed case in a scratched condition. There will be plenty of newer PCs for a similar price in my opinion.

yes I appreciate that, but given it was so easy to learn how to do, I am surprised people just dont want to know about it.

And it really helps if you want to just swap out a component or whatever later on.

Anyway, the build I suggested was one of the first ones that came to mind, im sure there are combinations.

In terms of budget, heres an alternative suggestion

Motherboard - B350 selling for 30 on ebay
ryzen 3 1200 - 45 on amazon new
case £20
RX590 - 130
8gb of ram can be had for 25-30 eg this one . You can then buy another one if needed.
integral SSD 120gb selling for £15
can save a little money on power supply with the £25-30 aerocool one on amazon
W10 key on ebay £8

comes to around £300

The one youve suggested on ebay is also excellent price. The 3470 is old though, thought I would just mention it - still the Ivybridge era which is now at least 10 years old. No upgrade path there. But cant beat that price though.

With similar performance ? I'd really like to see an similar peformance alternative below £300. Theres no pictures of the case, and its graded as B condition. It will run good triple A games for a good while with the GTX 1060 inside. DDR3 is alright, does the job. I don't even have DDR4 and I'm running 4K games at 60 FPS max setting with ease.

Yeah the CPU bottlenecks the GPU a bit, but it'll easily run current gen games at 60 FPS well enough. Its the best for a pre built anyways, might try your build for a nephew for Christmas.
I think it'd be better if you can hold off until you have atleast 500£, that way you can make a better pc and not have to resort to buying low end parts. My 2pence.

Manufacturer Refurbished so should be good, Its grade B, so few scratches if that? The main things performance though, should last a real goodwhile. And kills anything in the 300 range

You run 4K games at 60fps on max settings with ease?... I’m sorry but I highly doubt this, even with a 2080ti you’d struggle with a stable 60fps on max settings

If you’re playing old games or non graphic intense games, it’s possible. However there are many games that a 2080ti won’t even get 60fps on max settings.

I think this is reasonable for the price. Certainly better than most posted. OK its not really upgradable but its decent spec and for something running new upgradable specs you're looking at a reasonable bit more.

I agree, its quite a good deal . Upgradeable specs maybe 400-500 range. Her son should be fine with the GTX 1060 for years to come, especially as hea happy with a GTX 710

Depends on the game he probably could on quite a few, anyways ones you posted ran terrible on everything. You don't need an RTX 2080 TI to run 4K 60 FPS on most games, now either help the lady with a pre-built under £300 beating my specs or go away. Thanks

I said there are games that “even the 2080ti can’t run 4K at 60fps at max settings”, which is a fact. There are many games where that is the case... It is obvious that the both of you haven’t got a clue, so I will leave it there.
