Looking for a reasonable LCD TV for 230 max.

I'm looking for a LCD TV of reasonable size and quality 19"+ for my uni accommodation. I would have settled for an old big widescreen non-flat TV but I've decided it is worth paying extra for the convenience of being able to move it from place to place without it causing me to have to make extra journeys (my home is 200 miles from my uni and uni accommodation).

I've seen a few ok looking ones in a catalogue returns outlet (X Catalogue Kings, Wulfrun Centre, Wolves) with manufacturer warranties still intact (Bush, Goodmans, Alba, etc. I'll add more details later when gf gets back with them) but I thought checking here before jumping into anything would be a good idea.

This is tempting : hotukdeals.com/ite…vie
Manufacturer I've not heard of though, anyone got first hand experience?

If theres anyone in or around the Wolverhampton area (I have own transport) looking to sell a TV that fits my description, I'd consider that too although obviously I'd have to open a For Sale/Trade thread if anything like that came up

Thank you for your input, good people.

You might wanna look into getting a LCD monitor, with freeview buit in, will be much cheaper & get ALOT better picture, then all the crappy makes......

Thanks, I'll check that option out.

On the TV front this looks pretty good, seems to have positive reviews as well ebuyer.com/pro…96/

On the monitor with freeview front, this looks very nice ebuyer.com/pro…iew

My money would be on THIS:

You'd never get a TV with those specs for that price!!!

I'm kind of set on the Samsung now, why is it priced so low, because its marketed as a monitor with extra features as opposed to a TV? Even then it doesn't seem to make an awful lot of sense...

Yeah cos it's a TFT monitor, but also cos ebuyer is a dam cheap site 2, they buy in bulk!

Can't go wrong with 1080p, quality over size, everytime!

Hope that's helped

:-D

Recieved it today, awesome quality although now realise how crap the signal is in this uni halls building. Think I'll pick up a cheap p4 machine to use as a media center of types (loading TVCatchup/FilmonHDi), anyone got any idea of the lowest cost graphics card capable of decoding and playing HD content at a decent rate? I have an i7 uber gaming rig I built a couple months back that I could possibly use to stream movies from to the media center.

Summit like this fella:

Of course, that's PCI-E, depends on how old your motherboard is.....
