Looking for a replacement Combi Boiler

Hello, looking to find a replacement gas Combi Boiler as my previous model which was a Glow Worm Compact has been condemned, so currently have no heating or hot water. I have a 3 bedroom home with one bathroom and 9 radiators. Could anyone help in a recommendation for me as I'm finding it a mine field out there ? Thanks in advance. Warren

My only other constraint is the sizing due to the room in the cupboard so probably need something which is classed as Compact. Thanks again.

The Worcester Greenstar series are quite popular and said to be reliable, as are the Vaillant ecoTEC series.I can't think of any new boilers that are particularly small.

Thanks for the reply. It's not especially small but on inspecting the Greenstar Compact is probably the size I'm after.

Baxi have a 7 year parts and labour warranty.http://www.baxi.co.uk/gas-boilers/combi/duo-tec.htmhttps://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/products/boilers/directory/greenstar-cdi-classic-system

Hi mate. Which 45kw combi would you recommend? Needs to service 2 bathrooms and 18 radiators. Will be hooked up to a hot water cylinder so advice on that would be appreciated if you have the time please.

    Thanks

The plumber my daughter uses would only fit Worcester. He was then introduced to the Ideal Vogue and now only fits that. It has a decent warranty providing you have it serviced every year.

Go with the one that gives you the longest warranty.

I've the vogue+, supposed to be built like the valiants. 10 year full warranty. Seems ok but it's huge.

Yes, not what you would call a compact. Ideal boilers are in my home town. I know the new condensing boilers are more efficient but I love the old traditional cast iron boilers. That's what I have now. It's about 12 years old and a Classic in more ways than one. I had a choice of this one or a newer condensing type but didn't fancy a boiler with an aluminium heat exchanger over cast iron. My previous ideal boiler had been in the house for about 30 years. Only problem I have had with it is the fan. The bearings go after about 5/6 years and always in the winter lol. I bought a spare one and then fitted new bearings in my old one and knew the signs last winter so put the spare on. You won't get a plumber or gas fitter doing that !! It's about £100 or so for a new fan and a fiver for a set of bearings.

idealboilers.com/ins…em/ <== Heat exchanger is stainless steel
I had a 20 year old Ideal boiler before where the fan stuck, turned out the grease had dried out and a small bit of oil and a bit of banging got it working again

Yes, I know the Vogue has a stainless steel heat exchanger. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't explain clearly. When I was looking for a new boiler in 2004 the only condensing ones in my budget all had aluminium heat exchangers. I didn't fancy one of those and went for the traditional classic. If I was buying today it would be the Vogue combi which would give me a good excuse to create some space in my loft and one of the bedrooms by getting rid of the tanks. Airing cupboard is handy though.

It was my fault for not putting it properly. I knew what I meant in my head lol. My daughter had the vogue put in her house earlier this year. She's now moving into another house and already bought another vogue for it. Our plumber won't use anything else now.
