Looking for Alloy Wheel refurb company in East London/Essex

    Hi All

Despite everyone telling me that Alloy and Tyre insurance is a waste of money, I took it out anyway.

On sat night I had a cyclist that decided to bypass traffic on the other side and go around an island onto my side almost causing a head on collision in Central London. I swerved and narrowly avoided him but scraped my wheels on the curb (which also cut the front tyre).

My alloy/tyre insurance has agreed to cover the damage and I've got the tyre replaced by Kwik Fit mobile fitters.

I'm looking now for a shop that can refurb Diamond Cut Alloys to repair the damage on my wheels.

Does anyone know of a company in East London/Essex? Maybe even North London?

Two companies I contacted claimed they could but I then discovered that they wanted to fill and paint the alloys in a metal look paint which I don't want.

One company in Essex said they machine them which is what I want but they can't give me a VAT receipt which is what my insurance requires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    wheelrepairit.com/ any good?

The owner is quattromaster on the pistonheads forum. There's an interesting (and long) thread on there covering some issues they had with the lathe used for diamond cutting.

Of course if insurance require a vat receipt ask your local garage if they can process it for you - it will up the cost as you'll be adding 20% vat and a cut for the garage.
