    Looking for basic desktop PC

    Hello

My daughter is about to turn nine, and is PC-mad. I can never get anywhere near my laptop any more!

So we want to get her her own desktop PC for her bedroom. We don't need anything too powerful, and would rather spend more of the budget on a decent-size monitor than the latest processor.

It won't be for games --- just the internet and a few arty packages etc.

    Anyone seen any good deals?

There was a hot deal I saw a couple of days ago for a package without a screen for £199.99, add a screen for £100 and you've got one for under £300.

I'm just looking for it now, you could always try the refurb organisations

Found it, it was one of those buy quick lidl deals, look out for the netto/lidl/aldi deals that come along, they really cut price their pc's

Cheers. That kind of deal would be perfect. I'll keep looking for something similar but available nationwide.

Those Lidl deals are nationwide, I'm not sure why the OP said it was in his store only...I saw it in my store, and I'm no where near him.

But the Netto/Lidl/Aldi deals come up at least once a month, more nearer xmas, I know netto had one last Sunday, and I'm sure Aldi had one the Sunday before.

Can go wrong with a Dell for a basic desktop.

Good deal here - remove the overpriced monitor to make the base £152 + pennies delivered then get a decent Montor elsewhere.

Cheers. Saw that post last night. But I would far rather stick to XP. Do you know how you go about getting XP instead of Vista on this deal?

Give them a call & haggle - though you wouldnt get quidco on the deal then.

Or order as is & stick Xp on yourself.

How did you get to configure this PC in the first place? The only option I can find with an Inspison 530 DT has a 17" monitor which when you take it off the order still is damn expensive

...Am I missing out on a Dell configuration website somewhere? ...Been looking to spend between £150/£200 on a new PC myself...no monitor required or CD/DVD Drives

you may be better off getting it with vista, if you say its for your daughter its better for her to get used to it now really.

ik wouldnt miss out on a good dell deal just because of the os

Hi do u mind disclosing to me ur location for the pc???
    Thanks

Go to Dell.............give them a ring even if you dont understand all that techy stuff

I would recommend going down to Comet OR PC World BUT only buy the following makes from those stores:
    Hewlett Packard
    Packard Bell
    Compaq
    Sony (Expensive)
DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER BRAND or you WILL have problems

£402 delivered if you upgrade to the 22" flat panel, £379 if you stick with the 20".

And it's got stacks of potential for upgrading.
