Looking for best deal or exchange rate on Japanese Yen

Best deal or exchange rate of Japanese Yen, and also Korean Won if possible.

Either online deal or local collection in the Central Manchester area.

    Thanks,

    Spark

It's for travel, sorry, I should have mentioned that.

I've had a look on MSE but all of the best ones come with delivery charges unfortunately.

Even with delivery as stated above this is the best deal you will find here

    travel money: travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/

    Ive not found better

if 5 pound delivery charge is big problem for you why you want to spend money travelling ??
just stay home and travel via national geografic ....

My best deal for JPY has always been to withdraw via ATM in Japan. My ex is Japanese and notwithstanding opening a JPY account, you are not likely to see much saving for the inconvenience unless you are spending £10k plus.

Beware though that even today, Japan is a very cash based society. Many places you would think would accept cards will not.

And your phone will not work.

That would usually have been very helpful advice, however it's OK, I am travelling there with my partner who is Japanese and will be staying with her family and I am ethnically from that part of the World so I am pretty much used to it. , That ATM suggestion does sound like quite a good idea and is always how I have done it before, I just thought that will all of these deals going on travel money at the moment, I might try to go down the typical 'tourist' route for once.

My phone will work because it is an iPhone 3G by the way and all 3G handsets will work in Japan and Korea.

That was a very helpful and not in the slightest bit sarcastic suggestion, thank you for posting it.

What I actually meant is that some sites such as this one crowncurrencyexchange.com/ind…asp offer free delivery, but a slightly lower rate of exchange than some of the other's at the top of MSE's list.

why dont you just take local currency and change it at their local bank? take your passport and other id.and they should change it commision free, you'd get a top rate as well.

You mean my local bank here or a bank in Japan?

Bank in japan, i was in tokyo in 2005. I do that everywhere I go, was in barbados in may this year and took a little abit of bejan dollars at $2.7 bds got to a bejan bank in bridgtown and picked up 2.99 comission free and back in may the pound was at a all time low. Banks usually give the going exchange rate, not a tourist rate. Why dont you ask your freinds back in japan to pop to a bank and check the local rate?

That's a good idea actually since I will be seeing someone tonight who is going back just after the weekend so I will ask her to check when she gets home.

    Thanks very much, rep left.
