    Brother HL5440D, £172.98
This a fantastic Mono printer, a real beast! much faster and much cheaper if you print alot. I researched for ages and I wanted to spend alot less than this but im really glad i didnt. Highly recommended.

Its extremely important to not just look at the initial cost of the printer, but the long term cost. Buying a printer can be a false economy, what can seem like a deal at first (like many posted here) end up with much higher long term printing costs as they only look at the spec and price of printer. This is really the best of both worlds.

7/8000 yield toner for £8ish on ebay (with great feedback) was the deal breaker as printing works out very cheap (other printer toners have only max 1000) so massive saving

Thanks Sandy1012 but I have got a budget of under £100.

    Any other suggestions?

Thank you WesD84, I am seriously considering getting that Lexmark printer now as I was gonna try some local Tesco stores to see if they have the following one in stock

Old HP printers are pretty much bulletproof. Had an old 2100 in the office that did over 1,000,000 prints.

If you are going to print a lot (eg: multiple users in an office), you should keep a close eye on the running costs/cartridge sizes of those cheap Samsung/Lexmark printers.

The Lexmark MS310dn costs ~ 1.92p per print (5% coverage, one sided) + the cost of the paper, when buying a new/genuine toner here.

The Samsung M2022W costs ~ 1.61p per print (5% coverage, one sided) + the cost of the paper, when buying a refurbished toner here.

The old Laserjet 2200DN on the other hand costs as little as ~ 0.22p per print (5% coverage, one sided) + the cost of the paper, when buying a refurbished toner.

The only upsides for the new printers are the speed (unlikely to be relevant, as duplexing tends to be a speed killer in my experience), power consumption (turn the thing off at the mains if you are not planning to print that day) and they may print marginally nicer looking photos (not really relevant to a mono laser printer?).
Notice that I didn't list longevity as an upside of those new printers. oO

    Thank You Everyone....

avoid lexmarks! Brother printers are superb and toner lasts years.

if you dont mind manual duplex then you cant go wrong with the brother HL-2130
