Looking for new GPU

I'm in the market for a new graphics card, but I'm not sure what to go for and am open to suggestions and possibly changing to NVidia.

I have always been team red and was looking at the 5700XT, but I think it may be overkill. It is also closer to the £400 mark

My budget is £200-£300 and I'm keeping an eye on black Friday deals.

My current computer specs are:
Ryzen 5 1600
16GB 3000MHz RAM
Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8GB
Corsair 650W PSU

I'm not sure that you're going to get much of an imrprovement on an RX580 with that budget.

What resolution do you game at?
Why are you changing your RX 580 for something else?

With that budget, your best bet is gonna be a used GTX 1080 from ebay. Those are going for between £300-£400 but its a much better card than the RX 580. It will last you a couple of years too.
Rtx 2060 is much better even a1660ti would be. There both within budget. For 370£ you could get a rtx 2070...

I play at 1080p

My 580 was bought preowned and it was used for mining, so it doesn't perform as well as it could do.

I'm trying to not be tempted by a used GPU this as the past two I've had haven't performed well.

I'll have a look at a 2060. I think the 2070 might be a bit much for me right now though.

Problem is, the current generation of GPUs haven't improved that much on the previous gen, with the possible exception of AMD's 5700 XT cards (which is outside your budget). A decent used 1080 Ti will last you at least another couple years and is even more powerful than most of the current-gen lineup. Unfortunately you have been caught short on the 580 as most people knew it was good at mining (one of the best in fact, in terms of hashrate:cost ratio) but if you do some research and be clever about it, you should be able to get something that not only works but will have decent endurance.
Maybe just spend £180 on a new rx590 saphire pulse or a little less on a fat boy. For 1080 gaming thats more than capable of high settings with decent fps

If the RX580 is ex-mining, have you flashed it back to an original BIOS (assuming it had been flashed with a mining modded BIOS)

I only have a 1080p monitor too, so anything made for 2k or 4k I guess would be a little redundant right now.
I've been looking at a 1660 Ti as I don't think I'll be able to get much more power from AMD with my budget. It's around £100 cheaper than the 5700XT.

I read a while ago that the 590 didn't improve much over the 580.

I read about that once I knew it had been used for mining, but it was still on the original BIOS.

Surely that 580 plays everything fine at 1080p?

It's a bit past it's prime though.
It's runs hot very quickly and the fans take forever to slow down and shut off after gaming.

Is it worth looking at redoing the thermal paste and cleaning up the fans or you deffo want a new card?

Its about 15% improvement in most examples ive seen, but if your saying your 580 is on its last legs then a new 590 is going to be decent upgrade and at 1080p it can play anything at a good fps
