Looking to buy a new TV

I want to get a 1080p set, looking to spend around 800-900
I'm thinking of getting an LCD rather than plasma, as I'm told they're more future proof.
Also I've been told that 1080p is useless below 42in
I've been looking around and a few 46/47in sets caught my eye, namely the SHARP LC-4620E (903 delivered from amazon) and the LG 47FL66

Can anyone give me any recommendations, or reviews on these two TVs?

I've got the 42X3030DB, the above is the improved, 'Z' series. The 'Z' series supports 100Hz (and 24p, iirc).

It's 42"
Wouldn't it be wiser paying 50-100 extra and getting a 46" model?

depends how near or far you are going to be sat from the TV

You're planning on spending close to a grand.

If I was planning on spending close to a grand, I wouldn't rely on someone on hotukdeals saying "this is a great TV, I've got it and it's great".

I would go to WHSmiths, spend a tenner on buying Whathifi magazine, Home Cinema, magazine, etc - read them from cover to cover and get an understanding of what elements make a great TV.

Then I would go to a Currys and see how the TV picture looks in reality.

Then I would buy a TV

(actually I'd probably spend a few weeks on AV Forums researching it further beforehand)

I think its about 4 or 5 meters

I'm looking for opinions here, and will do more research on the models that people recommend.
