Lost 24 lb in weight in 6 weeks, here is how I did it

Since I like to share my success and help others on HUKD do it, but please consult a doctor before proceeding. I know theres a few low carb diets out there (atkins, south beach, others) but this is my variation on it from bodybuilders. Everything I eat is healthy ! The main stuff I will eat is :

Whey powder drinks with a tablespoon of olive oil (usually 2 a day)
About 5g of fish oil good quality high EPA
Green Tea extract or thermogenic tablets
Green Veg (broc, runner beans, Lettuce, Mange Toute, Spinach, Kail)
Other Veg (peppers, mushrooms, onions, Cauliflower, Avocados, some totato(notmuch))
Meat, fish, eggs, cheese, shrimps, Mussels, Scallops
    Physillium Husk fibre

Thats it, nothing else really. I fry up or boil the veg, and make sure I eat olive oil with the veg. I'll usually fry up some onions with peppers and add meat, or i'll fry up some shrimps with olive oil and butter, or i'll make some salad with lettuce and avocado and full fat roquefort cheese.

I remember reading that if i'm on a low carbs diet, I need to eat fats otherwise I will go out of ketosis, I read this on a bodybuilding diet from the 70s and also in Atkins. Or if I eat too much protein and not enough fats, the liver starts to covert protein into sugars. Its all about getting and setting your correct metabolic rate. If you are cold, something is wrong, usually you are not eating enough fats and its a clear indication after 3 weeks. I usually warm up again after eating some fats. Notice I only eat good fats mostly, but some saturated fats is ok and needed for testosterone production in men. Remember if you want to do this diet, eat enough good fats but not overly fatty and keep the carbs to less than
For exercise, well i'm quite fit actually already, I found though that exercise did not make me lose weight just made me fitter. My heartrate is resting is 56 bpm and I have low (though not abnormal) blood pressure. Nevertheless, I still goto the gym 3 times a week and do about 40 minutes of cardio with my carb deficit. I also go mountain walking with a local club every 2 weeks or so, about 9 mile hikes up mountains and stuff.

I hope this helps, if you want to ask any questions I am willing to help.

I've done this before and lost weight, but you know, life style pressures and work and environment, I put it all back on again. However, my plan is goto 85 kilos, and then gradually introduce good carbs in the form of oats and nut and other high carb veg that includes lots of fibre. Also I feel much more awake and my mind more alert, cos i've replaced a lot of brain fats with omega 3 fats and I dont feel tired cos of carb withdrawal.

Yeah I was 110.5 kilos at the start now i'm 99.5 kilo.

I've know a group of women who goto weightwatchers and Slimming world for 10 years and lose nothing, they have been the same size since they joined.

Like op said you will put it all back on again and have to do it all over again as s/he has. Slowly and steadily is the key, more chance of keeping it off.

Some people don't handle ketosis well neither....

Yep, you are right. Going from 100 kilos to 90 will be harder I feel. Also expect to hit stalls were you have no weight loss.

i've been down to this 100 kilo mark before, i've heard it said that your body remembers weight, and these areas become difficult
to penetrate. So if you was at a certain weight for a long time years ago and then went up, and did the same again, these form
bands of resistance at different stages of weight loss, like a weight memory.

    well done tho

any diet works btw - low fat healthy eating combined with exercise

Yup I know someone who is on the cambridge diet, and if you are going on a ketosis low carb diet, it's exactly that low carb, so no booze etc.

She lost 2 stone really quickly then just couldn't loose anymore they call it plateau in the diet, she then has been stuck in the circle of putting it on, loosing again, nightmare.

Im on the Atkins at the mo nearly finished 2nd week.. finding it pretty easy.

I actually read how its possible to put on weight while dieting. Yes its true, the body goes into starvation mode and thus lowers the metabolism and start absorbing anything you eat. I read how a guy who did a daily 12 mile run on 1200 calories a day actually started to put on stomach fat.

I think the key to this is to keep eating just the right balance of fats, and 6 smaller meals a day, and those thermogenic or green tea tablets.

All the atkins products instore are on offer in boots, so you can get those expensive £2 bars for £1.42 in the shops at the moment.

I usually buy a few to carry around after the gym.

eh, weight loss is related to age, you can eat crap under the age of 26 and get away with it.

If you experience weight loss like that and have not dieted and are over the age of 30, I would goto the doctor, could be something serious.

Most people under the age of 26 shouldnt need to diet as exercise would probably work. And most people start to go fat over the age of 28 what ive seen. You can no longer eat crap because of the change in your body.

you don't need to buy any special products for the atkins diet, just plenty of meat, fish, cheese

I've been on a diet for the last month. I've lost 11lbs so far and it feels good.
I'm not on any particular diet, i've just cut out all the crap.
I try and have my 5 a day in the morning after i get to work, (about 7-8am) which is usually cut up fruit, pineapple, a banana, red and white grapes, strawberries and maybe melon, then at about 10.30-11 i have a bowl of cornflakes with some apricot wheats on top with semi skimmed milk.
1 thing which i think may have helped a lot is i've starting having my dinner at lunchtime ... instead of at around 8pm when i get home from work.
By doing this i've more than halved my portion size too.
I just have 2 small weight watchers petit pain rolls when i get home in the evening now.

The other big thing (and i think it is with any diet), is that i've joined a gym and go at least 3 times a week.
This is hard because i leave the house at around 6 - 6.30 and don't get in till nearly 10pm when i go to the gym.
I just hope it's all worth it in the end

Forget diets, just eat healthier, exercise more and reduce portion sizes,

The issue with fad diets is you put it all back on when you get bored and return to your "normal" diet

In January I was on 95kg my target was to loose 5kg in 6 months. I started the Gym in Feb and I lost 1kg in Feb, 1kg in March and 1 kg in Apr costing £54 a month the GYM

At the of April I had a very nasty Appendicitis which meant I could not eat for like 3 days, was off work for 3 weeks and lost so much weight that I am now in 87kg. So lost 5kg in less than a week due to this.

So just another ways on how to loose weight, not ideal though.

And people say that the Appendix is a useless organ. Well at least it helped me to loose weight ;-)

Yep everything in moderation. I was at my fittest and healthiest when I was out drinking every weekend and having takeaways. As all week I'd eat well and work out (weights) 3 times a week for about 60mins, and do cardio on tuesday and thursday. I slowly lost some weight about 2-3lb per week for the first few weeks, but as I didnt deprive myself, I still drunk and ate crap at weekends I managed it well.

If you deprive yourself of the 'crap' then you will want it more usually, so have some, but not as much and not as often. If you treat yourself to it once a week or so, then you are more likely to succeed.

N.B. I need to take my own advice, due to exams, and stress of them with buying our first property I have been eating crap and not finding time to exercise...thus have probably put on another half a stone! So this summer I have to try and lose about 2 stone by christmas hopefully.

Not true. I went from 15 stone up to nearly 20 stone from the age of 21 to 24. Managed to get down to and stay at 17 stone now. Did get as low as 16stone but finding the 17 stone to 16 stone jump really hard these days now I'm 30.

Yeah that is the only way my Mum ever lost weight as well when on a Monday night (after her 'Fat' Club) we would have a takeaway, and pudding of some kind.

I weight train 5 nights a week and eat healthily. Fri & Sat are fair game though and I do eat crap and drink myself silly lol
