Lost Five, Fiver, Fiver+1, etc channels on SKY

Found 9th Oct 2009
Hi

I have recently *lost* Five, Fiver, Fiver+1, Channel 4+1, channels off my SKY digi box. I don't pay anything to SKY now - I just use it to view free channels. I had this installed in 2002 and paid SKY for about 3 years. Since then I don't watch much TV but used Fiver to catch-up on US series shown on Five (e.g. Flashforward).

Any idea why and more importantly, how can I get the channels back? Also, SKY3 nows says to insert my viewing card - which it already has.

So,d o I need to buy new equipment to watch free channels? I am happy with all other stuff and *don't necessary want to change anything* if I can just get Fiver & Channel 4+1 - so that I can watch Simpson after coming home :-).

Thanks.

Robie

A box will only cost about £20 and throw the Sky box away...They seem to block everything when you leave so the box isn't even any use as a freeview box. Argos do them from £18.99

Thanks. Time to dump old SKY box :0).

You need to buy a new viewing card the white one i think.
It will then give you 3 more years of the channels.
It will cost £20.00 ish

This might help

Get your existing Sky viewing card, note down the number, visit this site, mysky.sky.com/rep…rd/, enter the number and pay £20 for a new card.

Before spending any money, have you tried re-tuning?

Channel 5 at least was one of the stations that was moved to a new wavelength about a week ago.

Google "freeview retune channel 5" or similar to find out what it's all about.

as a sky customer you shouldnt have to pay the £20 for the replacment card , when you leave sky your card as long as you still have your old viewing card left in the box and the box is switched on , should allow you to recieve well over 200 tv channels, so slightly better than freeview

take this advice as this is the cause of your problem. Its not the fact you've left sky, as you've said you've been off sky for about 4 years now. It is the fact that as part of the digital switchover everyone who uses freeview needs to retune their sets.
