I lost my mobile earlier today on a bus. I phoned the bus company to report it and they said they would contact me if they found it. I then tried to report it lost to the police but they told me I must make sure it is lost because the bus company may still have it!

I tried to phone my network but I was warned I would need a crime referance/lost propety number. Add to that the 30-60minutes I had to wait in a queue so I decided hang up.

I want to know if I can claim back the unused credit on my mobile(PAYG) as I have checked the balance and it is still the same.

Any ideas what I should do next?

You should cancel your sim card(you can keep your number) and ask your provider to send you a replacement sim card. This will cost about £10 for a replacement, some providers will do it free if you have a crime number. Your credit (if not used) should transfer over as the money is on your number not your sim card.

The phone cost me £50 and there was a tenner on it. :-(

How do I go about cancelling my SIM can i do so in an Orange shop on the high street? It takes forever to get anywhere on the customer care service.
