    Lost recorded post?

I sent my friend a USB stick (32GB) with some important documents (Because his internet was playing up so I couldn't email/send on msn)

He sent it back to me recorded 9 days ago and I still havent received it (1st class recorded)

I'm guessing its lost and I know I have to wait 14 days before claiming but how likely is it that I will receive a payout to buy a new USB stick? I need a new one ASAP and don't really want to fork out £35ish that I dont have to spare atm.

How long do insurance claims normally take with RM?

forever. you have to wait up to 6-8 weeks for them to find it then claiming on it is a frustrating never ending process

You will probably have to provide proof of value of the item,I guess you may bought it online,so have a look through your emails,or look for shop receipt.

It's gone,I expect they won't find it....some teenagers stocking filler this year.

It just says 'your item was posted on............ at .............'

It is 14 or 16 working days before a claim can be made for lost post I think. Time a form sent in,it take another 3weeks or so before they issue compensation as they have 1000's of lost mail claims going in.

    did you get a payout?

I better get myself onto amazon then..

Recorded delivery served no purpose in this scenario.

Next time, send them by e-mail, and get him to go to a mates house/library/internet cafe to retrieve it.

Also, when the Post Office clerk asks if there is anything important/valuable tell your mate to say "Yes".

What files need 32gb ?. Were they "ahem" grown ups videos

I didnt say it was lol I was just mentioning it was recorded.

get in touch with the local delivery office/ customer services, it might be sitting on a shelf there. I used to work for Royal Mail, and one week we had a higher than average number of phone calls about missing letters. One was a passport needed for a honeymoon. I felt so sorry for the couple I started ransacking the building and found a whole sack of live mail that had mistakenly been dumped in a room with sacks of dead letters (undeliverables).

i sent jeans first class recorded, photocopied all my reciepts and evidence of transaction and value, sent it off to them, pestered them and never recieved anything

    How did you package it?

If I remember correct the way they do it, is they send a letter to the person who was supposed to recieve the item, and they must fill out a form to say they recieved it or not, if that isnt returned RM dont pay out, likewise if the letter that asks the questions doesnt arrive they treat it as not responded to and wont sent another.

Don't think they do that anymore, I supposed to receive a game from here but I have never got it, the seller filed a claim and got a reply letter back asking for my contact details, which is funny enough as Post Office could have post me a claim form so I can actually sign it instead
