hoping someone can answer this 3 of us are off to holland tomorrow,we are each allowed 25kg of luggage each,we are just taking 2 suitcases to make it easier, if 1 of the cases is over 25kg will i be charged?or is it ok as long as combined weight is less than 75kg?

It's per case as it's a manual handling issue

You will be charged. Especially if its sleazyjet. Surprisingly (or not for most people), your airline will stipulate this in their terms and conditions. You checked them, right?

cheers guys its with klm and i THINK im ok but only have 1 of these luggage hook scale type things dont know how accurate they are

when we were on hols last year someone had the same problem as you - they had packed 2 bags - but paid for the 3, they had gone over the weight and they made them split the bag overload into their hand luggage and use a cool bag filled up as the third bag ........ that was with thomas cook.

just came bk from spain with thomsons, family of 5,we were 3 kg over on a combined weight of 5 cases, charged 36 euro excess baggage

Usually weight limit per suitcase now is 25 kg, For health and safety reasons. Even if you paid for excess weight you'd still have to make it less than 25kg.

Must be different rules for different airlines. Just come back from Florida with Virgin and maximum weight per bag was 25kg.

They are pretty accurate. If anything they show your bags heavier, so no need to worry.

I am referring to maximum weight for baggage handlers, not free allowance per airline. Virgins max is 32kg as per health & safety max limits.

I think they mean the same, As I did with my post, Must be different for each airliner, Used to be 30kg max but they changed it to a maximum of 25kg on Thomson flights.

baggage handlers cover ALL airlines so 32kg restriction is for them. Airlines can of course set their own limits below this, but not above.
