    Lunch help- Something other than sandwiches & healthy

    Every day i eat sandwiches for lunch and far too much bread, but im not a big fan of salads so does anyone have any suggestions what i could eat for lunch because i need to cut down on carbs in general.

    Of the salad stuff i only really like -
    The meat
    Cheese
    Tomato
    Egg

    What about wraps, you can have anything in them;

    Grated cheese and tomato with coleslaw or mayo
    Meat with tomato
    etc etc

    How about some chicken, cheese, tomato and egg?

    what about soups?
    There are low calories ones...
    And fruit? Cereals?

    could be a runner for today but im looking for ideas for general cos all i eat is sandwiches, past, rice and potatoes with meat every day for lunch/dinner so all those carbs not so good :whistling:

    Depends on whether you are home or at work really, Tortillas or pitta bread are a good option if you are at work, otherwise soup or baked potato are good.

    Would of suggested cold pasta, but you said less carbs

    Falafels with yoghurt.

    How about a healthy portion of HUKD and skip lunch :thumbsup:

    Is easy to make your own, and can freeze them/put them in the fridge until you want them

    I make vegetarian soups, so couldnt advise on meat ones, but can put some ideas for veggie ones if you want. I make soup a few times a week

    the one time i made soup it tasted disguisting but sometimes my friend makes them at uni with chicken and they taste ok so guess il have to pester her lol

    are u at home for lunch or at work... im at home and i have fish fingers with veggies or u could do chicken with veggies..like mushrooms or sweetcorn...basically avoiding the carbs. hope it helps

    You have plenty different ones, vegetable, chiken, tomato... asda has the "healthy" ones with less than 50 calories per sachet, and they are quit creamy. And 50p per 4.
    They are easy to prepare at work (just boiling water from the kettle).
    The fill you a lot and it is good to have something hot.
    I was always having sanwitches and snacks... (and I was gaining weight) and now I have replaced the sanwiches for 2 soups during the day.
    maybe a bit monotome everyday, but you should try for time to time!

    They are like a vegetarian kebab for want of a better description, very nice. Borough Market in London has a very good stall which sells them, ooh and my favourite cheese in Neal's Cheese Yard, Montgomery.

    Asda do a packet soup (not cup a soup) 'Farmhouse vegetable' which is delicious - its the only soup I eat that isnt homemade!

    this is going to sound stupid but how do you make an omlette?

    i have only ever scrambled or boiled eggs lol

    To make am omelet, heat up a frying pan, beat 3 eggs together, add salt and pepper, pour into the pan, swish around until covers base, leave until cooked (egg whites turn white)
    When about 70% cooked, tilt pan to swish any remaining mixture to edges of pan, then it will start to shrink away from the sides of your pan. At this point you could add any fillings you want onto one half of the omelete. Then place the (empty if filings added) half over the other and pop onto a plate.

    I wouldn't bother with instant soups. make your own in big batches, freeze in portions, then all you need to do is reheat and pop in a thermos flask and you have nice hot (or cold, if you have gazpacho) soup. much nicer than instant soups and actually works out cheaper per portion.

    also try roasting some vegetables in the oven with a little tiny drizzle of olive oil, let them cool, then chop them and add to some cooked cous-cous. swirl in a few herbs & spices (i use smoked paprika, ground cumin, fresh coriander/mint/parsley) and drizzle over a bit of freshly squeezed lemon juice. mix in a bit of grilled chicken too and then bung in a tupperware box.

    omelettes or scrambled eggs r fab... for every egg i out in i only put in half the yolks..so if 2 eggs.. one yolk as the whites r fat free and full of protein.... :thumbsup:

    that makes more sense. i also put a lot more in my soups, but sometimes the basic flavours are a nice change!!!
