    Magnetic chargers

Bought a hudl 2 as a Xmas gift for someone but hear a lot about the charging port issues. Heard to get round this some people opted to use a magnetic charger so that the ports isn't constantly being tampered with.
I don't know really anything about magnetic chargers.
    Are they safe?
Can anyone recommend a safe/trusted brand?
    Thanks

You get a plug that pushes In the usb port and stays there. I worry about the force needed to remove it although so far I have never needed to, as they stay in forever. Then the magnetic usb lead just attaches. I have mixed feelings. 1st lead failed as one of the tiny pins that makes contact went black. Think it burnt out. New lead is ok so far. Been using for 6 months. Good for kids and heavy handed folks I guess. I don't want one in my devises.

Oh. I have a WSKEN x cable.. About £13 on Amazon. You get one cable and 2 push in adaptors.. I think you really need 2 cables just incase 1 fails. Like I said. I worry about damaging the port pulling adaptor out if needed as the are well fixed in. You need to give a good push to fix adaptor in the micro usb port.

    That wasn't the question

Just be careful hauling the cable in and out, you should be fine, but if there is a problem, there's a fairly easy solution. After a year of kids pulling the charger in and out of our two Hudls, the pins finally became bent and stopped charging. After a bit of digging, found that these are easily replaced (which I did) and replacement ports are available for about a tenner on ebay and amazon. Dead easy.

Hmm so mixed reviews about whether it'd be better to just stick to normal charging or get a a magnetic charger.
I don't think I'd be able to replace the charging port myself

I guess if you have kids that will be roaming the charger in the wrong way around half the time, this kind of charger would be recommended.

I've had a hudl2 for way over a year, maybe close to 2. I dunno! . Providing you push it in the right way, you shouldn't have any issues
