    Which is better?

    The second one.
Turbo boost alone would sway me. Over 1ghz faster than the other.

Okay is the graphics card better even though its 1GB less?

Do you think i should accept the replacement?

    Also is the processor better?

The second one, However Probably not quite as good graphics but the better processor probably makes up for it.

Processor is a lot better. 1GB on that graphics card is overkill for the resolution (the size of the screen) 2GB is an absolute joke, it is like the mega-pixel wars of digital cameras, looks good on paper, in the real world the figures don't translate.

Even if the graphics card only had 512MB, it would still be plenty enough for that laptop.

Okay thanks guys so if you were in my position what would you try blag a little bit better?

Pretty happy they offered me this but im thinking i might be able to get a upgrade on something before i confirm the replacement.

If you want something that is better at graphics then.. You want something like a 460M or a 560M or above that. See here: notebookcheck.net/Com…tml

Processor wise, megahertz is king. The higher the better, with or without turbo boost.

On the 1st system what is the 6MB in the processor?
Do i have that in the second one?

As long as the 525m is better than the 435m i dont mind as the current one runs all the games i have.

    And as long as the
2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
    is better than the
    Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 740QM (1.73 Ghz, 6MB, 4C)

    Then i dont mind.

Games at the resolution your talking about would probably be effected more by how powerful the processor is than how powerful the graphics card is. The 525M will be very similar to the 435M. The processor should be much more powerful.

6MB is the cache. The i7-2630QM also has 6MB of cache.

That replacement absolutely thrashes your current laptop
The CPU scores 6329 vs 3581 on PassMark.

GPU is slightly better too (despite lower memory).

Yeh managed to get him to up the graphics to 2Gb and also make it a back-light keyboard

Flippin' heck. You sound like a customer services master!
What's the secret, sniffing and sobbing with disappointment?

Just sent this: And got offered Replacement/Refund/Cheap Upgrade the next day.

Rohit im really not happy with been charged £29 for errors that should not exist on a 6month old laptop.
Not to mention this is the third time i have had to have parts re fitted.

Ive read my rights and i believe if you are not going to offer me a full refund i would like a replacement laptop.

If you do not agree then i would expect no less than a phone call from you manager as i am simply not happy with a £700 laptop needing to be fixed 3 times in 6months.

He has changed these : IS this better than the one he original quoted?

XPS L502x : 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card
Keyboard : Internal Backlit UK/Irish Qwerty Keyboard

Also will they play games as well as the 435m i currently have does.

Got him to swap the keyboard change for this screen:

    15.6 FHD B+RGLED TL (1920x1080) 1080p with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera

will this make the system much better?

I agree with the point about games... You won't be able to run them at 1080p
However, for watching shows/movies or general usage, the 1080p is beautiful. I have the L501x and with the 1080 screen, I honestly couldn't ever go back.

Anyway I'm bored of this now, go use google.

Where you will probably find the information posted as a result of someone asking a question. If everyone defaulted to saying "use google" then the amount of information available to all of us would be significantly less.

or just search for benchmarks if you want to find out which component is better.

Its hardly rocket science, its just bone-idleness.
