Making a router table..

Any Carpenters in here. I want to make a router table but all the plates you can buy have different holes than what I need. They all have square 70mm x 70mm (approx) when mine is more rectangular 105mm x 70mm.

So, unless I can find one suitable I'll make my own, what material would you recommend, I've seen aluminum sheet (some on eBay though not sure if it's the same alloy as premade ones) some sort of acrylic/plexiglass, or should I just keep it 100% ply.
The router I'm using is a cheapo challenge extreme, possibly from Argos..
