Malgrat de Mar (Platja de Malgrat Centre beach)

Hello, has anybody been to Malgrat de Mar in Spain before? I was looking at staying there, but somebody mentioned that the beach (Platja de Malgrat Centre) is not fine sand - it is shingle and quite hard/uncomfortable to walk on, especially for children. If we stay in the town of Malgrat de Mar, we won't have a car, so won't want to walk too far to any other beaches (my young son also likes to build sand castles). Are all of the beaches in Malgrat de Mar consisted of shingle, not fine sand? Thank you.

Shingle is much harder for adults to walk on - we weigh more, therefore it hurts more.

Sandy beaches are marvellous, it's true, but if you have some cheap beach/water shoes and maybe those reed mats a shingle beach is nothing to worry about and I bet your son would love to search through all the shingle for the best looking pebbles or shells.
