Useless fact - Carlo Cudicini, has played seven times against Man City and won them all, conceding just once.

1-0 Crouch O.G. Has he scored the 4th place deciding goal two seasons in a row at Eastlands?

lol good point

Congrats to City.

Still don't look the complete unit, but got to hand it to them did the job tonight.

They only did the job because of spurs inability to turn possession into chances. There football tonight was poor to say the best. Fair play though over the course of the season they have done well, just think they let themselves down by playing boring defensive football in all the big games

So van der vaart will leave and spuds will again become a mediocre team. Not surprised at all.

LOL..... Don't you realise there's a reason they all turn their backs in the game so they don't have to watch! Dire aren't they!

Can't grumble at our own failings to convert which lets be honest has cost us not just in tonights game, but in the last third of the season where it went horribly wrong. That's life. No need to blame refs, injuries, playing in stadiums the fans dont want to watch or any other combination of excuse you want to think of. They played well tonight though despite several key players missing, in a nothing match for us. (I'd already conceded 4th 2 weeks back.). So with that in mind, hopefully Liverpool will get their dream ticket and Stoke will save us from the mickey mouse trophy so we can get back to the Champions League where we clearly belong and concentrate on the league. I expect most Spurs fans will feel the same.

I expect Liverpool fans similarly dont want Europa, but undoubtedly it will be seen as an achievement after their abysmal start, but I cant help thinking its a poison chalice.

It may not have ended as hoped, but its been an enjoyable season which at the end of the day is actually what its all about.

Oh... and inb4 the bell enders. X)

Not so sure it's a poison chalice with all the youngsters coming through, though time will tell. Only club at the moment that wishes the premier league season had another half left.

Have to agree with the above about Van Der Vaart, kinda player that proved he wanted champions league football so might go elsewhere.

Harry looked upset tonight, maybe he might call it a day too.

Guv....... you do know that Spurs and Fulham are almost neck-a-neck in the Fair Play table (just behind Chelsea, who already have CL football) meaning you might end up in the Europe League regardless. That would leave you having to play the qualifying rounds too X)

So Crouch has helped you get knocked out of the Champions League this season and helped stop you qualifying for next years..... you better hope he's sent off at Anfield this weekend then too!!

Is the Europa league actually worth qualifying for, for teams like Spurs and Liverpool I just see it as a unecassary drain on resources and gives very little in response even if you win the damn thing. Fulham and Atletico Madrid hardly seem to be rolling in it after last years exploits do they?

The only teams I see benefiting from it are teams that are not regular European qualifiers like Fulham that can enjoy a good season of European nights against some of the bi guns in Europe, other than that I think you are better off not being in it. Come the end of the season anyone left in it probably sees it as a hinderance.

They should either put a large money prize to it, around £10-20 million, give the winners a position in the following years ECL (which I would like to see) or scrap it all together.

As for City being in the ECL next year I dread to think how much they will spend over the summer now.

But they'll still have Mancini as manager (_;) I'd be more concerned about City if they'd have missed out on the Champions League....they'd have sacked Mancini and bought in someone like Mourinho and still spent ridiculous amounts of money.

As for the Europa League, I'll be delighted for us to qualify for it (not just because of where we were when King Kenny took charge). Silverware is silverware, and it's going to be an excellent competition for us to blood some more of the youngsters (Suso, Sterling, Coady, Morgan etc). The Thursday/Sunday thing is a pain, but the additional revenue (especially with the upcoming financial fairplay rules) will only add to transfer funds.

I have no idea why they won't give the europa winner a champs league place. It's crazy. It would boost the profile of the competition massively and suddenly make it worth winning.

But that could have left you last season in the situation of having qualified (in fourth spot) but then having the place taken off you if Fulham had beaten Atletico. After what happened with us and Everton in 2005, they'll never let more than the regular number of teams (i.e four for us, spain, italy etc) from a country participate, so would in most cases mean in the lowest-placed qualifier missing out.

100% agree. They could label it the inter toto Europa cup! X)

I dont think its just the bigger clubs that think the current format is a waste of time and I have to say the CL drop outs actually devalue the trophy rather than enhance.

I have to admit I'm shocked the cry baby sleeping boy hasn't shown his face. Anyway, hopefully nothing too serious, though a good slap would be hilarious.

Oh dear.

I can confirm he's still alive.

Went to game last night and it was bloody awful tbh but who cares.
Highlight has to be the random, "Let's Do The Posnan" instigated by the South Stand. No reason why it started, just did cos the game was rubbish.
Spurs fans giving it the large til we scored, then, i think they gave up and realise it wasn't just their night.
No champagne corks popping here yet, we're in the qualifying rounds and, looking around the European Leagues, it could be a ridiculous tough tie. FA Cup this weekend and lets face it, Stoke look very good of late so who knows but who cares
No need to gloat, no reason to gloat but one stand out from last night was coming home, watching Sky and see Harry applaud Mancini and say well done. Can't stand Harry, never have done but that was VERY sporting and, can't imagine many other managers doing that so well done.

Honey i'm home!

P.S. Crouch scoring the winner ohhhhhhhhhhhh the irony ! lmao X)

I agree the stoke game is a tricky 1, but if we were told at the start of the season we had stoke to beat to lift the fa cup as opposed to chelsea or arsenal we would have taken stoke any day!

Hopefully my second visit to wembley on saturday will be followed by a third visit against the rags for the charity shield oO

Spurs fans have returned a number of tickets for their game on Sunday. S*** support that is.

Spend billions and celebrate qualifying for the CL preliminary round. They probably won't even make the group stage.

Only 2 things wrong with that statement then.
"billions" not yet spend, and, even if they were, it's our owner's cash not your's so don't worry how it's spent, i am sure, he's not worried how you spend your's
Don't see any posts in here celebrating making it into the preliminary round do you?
A job at the Daily Mail or NOTW awaits; they never let the facts get in the way of a good story either

Via @SpursOfficial on Twitter: A number of tickets for Liverpool away have been returned and are now on general sale...

Either way, you cannot blame the Spurs' fans. It's been an expensive time for them this season, and it's a long way to come up t'North twice in a week and seem a team that is clearly tired mentally and physically and that is in no way a tease, goad or, takin' the p kinda comment, just how they seemed

The armchair supporters will be able to go to White Hart Lane now then. ( if they have a Sat Nav )
