2012 is the moment it all collapses, thats when the majority of the debt has to be paid. Plastics seem to think someone will just come along and buy them up but theres not that many people in the world with the kind of cash flow to get them out of the mire theyre currently in.

Why 'Manchester' United and not just Manchester United? :?

Much as I like the idea of ManUre going bust, I don't really think that the Mirror is the soundest source of financial stories.

I totally agree their whole empire has been built on finance
buying players from anywhere for all sorts of money is their own mistake
taking football out of reach for the average working man
    serves them right

2 sentences, hardly a breaking story. Looks like good business sense. Look at if from another angle, Man U seek to launch major transfer campaign.

True, we've all known they have been debt riddled for years, Im not sure where you get 'Major transfer campaign' from, I think they are more concerned with keeping up the interest payments at the moment, transfers are wayyyyy down the list of priorities hence bacon faces recent announcement that theyll be no big transfers.

It could mean anything though I prefer insomaniac's take on the story.

Oh, I really hope they don't have to go into liquidation - being relegated and points deducted (as what happens to other teams in the UK) could be the end of this once great club.

Surely the rules are that, when United are 1 behind, the game goes on until they equalise? If so, then the ref was obviously wrong and should be taken out and shot and six points awarded to United.

Major transfer campaign relates to not having to pay as much debt back within original schedule, hence freeing up funds to exploit the transfer market. It's all spin and gossip you know

you are mad if you think man utd are gonna be spending much if anything at all in the transfer window

fergus has already said he wont be spending in an "inflated market" same as wenger

The Old Trafford maestro is sceptical about making big-money transfers when there is a chance he may not get his money's worth."I don’t see any value in the market and that’s why I didn’t buy anyone more in the summer," he is reported to have told the Daily Mail. "The prices we were quoted for players were not reasonable and that’s why I didn’t do anything more."There’s a danger this could continue but it doesn’t change my view that we must look for value," Ferguson said.

    anyway... colour prospectus?

If they're that skint what about a good old-fashioned Xeroxed A4 pile put in a holepunched folder with the lovely green tags holding it together? That's bound to swing it.
