Taking student son out for tea next week but grandad coming too. So looking for ideas that would suit both of them.

All our normal favourites Indian, chinese, pizza are all off because Grandad is paying and wants to impress his grandson with a "decent meal". Not saying it has to be plain as meat and 2 veg...but he hates buffet style places. Will be eating about 5pm, grandads teatime of course... Might even be too early for early bird deals !

I don't want to end up driving round, with him in charge (he has never been to Mchester). So help me out guys, suggestions of nice places with reasonable prices near Didsbury, Owens Park, Fallowfeild city centre areas please.

The Gaucho Restaurant is brilliant and not too expensive. Great setting and next door to Kendals

umm bet that place is very pricey.

i personally would look for somewhere just outside of manchester centre as alot of places will have to be booked plus will cost your grandad 3 times more.

That one looks really nice.

Any more suggestions ?

Update, has to be nearer to city centre. Son has just told me he is had a band practice at 6.30 in the city.

Lots of places in The Trafford Centre which cater for all price ranges, from KFC to Carluccio's. There is the Ha Ha Bar which frequently has offers on, if you register on there website you can print off vouchers the last one I had was £10 off when you spend over £20. If you go on Trafford Centre website they have a list of all the restaurants etc on there and there is ususally links to the restaurants themselves. traffordcentre.co.uk/din…ng/

Handy link on how to get to the Trafford Centre traffordcentre.co.uk/get…er/

There are also lots of seats dotted around if you decide to do a bit of shopping, for if Grandad gets tired.

Have fun.

Daughter has suggested Weatherspoons on Deansgate, she thinks it is called the moon & stars. You will probably be better checking on the Weatherspoons website.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

not exactly somewhere you take someone if you want to impress them!!!!!!!!!!!!

it wasn't a suggestion for impressing someone, it was a suggestion for a meal handy for the city centre! That was reasonably cheap.

Thanks guys. Gaucho's bit too nice for us on this occasion. Weatherspoons, the other extreme on this occasion.

Might opt for the slug and lettuce, if I can see what deals there are for him. Probably not many on a Saturday evening. Croma Italian place also looking a possibility, he might not notice it's Italian!

Keep 'em coming!

greensdidsbury.co.uk/ is good, if not Akbars/Karim are both good indian places. If a quick meal the Earth Cafe etc is also good.

Also use the TopTable site to book as have various offers on
