    March....... An expensive month!!!!!!!!!

    Banned
    .
Just realised what an expensive month that March is for me - and probably many of you also - after getting back from the Garage to find more bills on my door mat.

Electricity...............£479 (bill arrived yesterday - It was £301 last quarter)
Council Tax.................£1498 (OK its paid through the year - but this was one of the first bills I opened yesterday!)
Water Rates................£510 (arrived last week - is monthly - but March notification!)
Car MOT / Service / MOT....£400 (This included a Cambelt change - bill paid yesterday)
Car Tax.................£215 (Payable at end of month)
Gas.................£58 (Monthly DD - seems to be ok - ie not OTT)
Home Insurance......£720 (Includes Contents..... Should really get this moved to another month - but currently falls in march)
Credit Card...............£640 ( I always pay my card off each month)
Interest Free Loan (for Bed)..£62 (Doesnt seem such a good idea now - should have just paid cash!)

On Top of this - other normal expenses... 2 iPhone contracts with O2, train fares to London etc etc

Just lucky my mortgage is paid off!

Think I need a pay rise!!!!!

Just the reality that March is a hefty month. I certanly wouldn't be able to survive if it was that every month!

The thought has crossed my mind!!!!

As did the fact we had our meter changed about 6 years ago. Every since then our Leccy bills double virtually overnight!

Your not the only one, relocating to London at the start of April. Just put down £500 deposit for an apartment and an another £1100 needed before April.

Buying a bit of funiture which is going to amount up to around £700. Car needs some work doing and don't expect much change from £400.

Not being rude but do you not budget over weeks/months? Not too much of a blow to the bank account that way. Like (and I know it may seem sad) I save towards my car tax/service/mot on a monthly basis and its there all ready for when they due.

Our electricity bill was almost double this quarter (compared with this time last year). The gas was remarkably low - we were surprised.

Living in the sunny North West of England at the moment and paying an easy £230 rent, soon to be £700... not including any bills :-(

My last electricity bill was £165, this quarter it was £240.

Cant believe it went up so much, I gave them a phone, they said its because it was winter, I said I have gas central heating ffs, they said its the lights.

    Feck me lol.

Nah. I don't need to budget. This month is an exeption to the rule. I have a direct debit set up direct to my savings account for £1000. I'll still do that this month even so. (My current account currently sits at just over £4K - and get paid on Friday - so not an issue as I have the funds there without messing about.)

Thats good then, your lucky youve got a bit to play around with. Tight ship in my house every month but no shocks. My friends call me the envelope queen, everything has an envelope :-D I have no contingency at the moment so money gets divvied between the envelopes on a weekly basis, bills first, food second and life 3rd, if theres any money left :-D God I have just managed to depress myself :x

Tell me about it, our water and council tax are similar and due to arrive any day, had to MOT one car this month and its taken ages to sort and cost a fortune, car tax due too although its only for the little car so £110, added to husband having day off work unpaid to try fix car and then another day off this week, cos our son was in hospital. Not to mention the usual cost of hospitals (parking food etc). We had two kids birthdays this month too. This has to have been the most expensive month in the last twelve months. Thank goodness its not like this every month.

Haha.... Well I have had times when it wasn't as rosey cash wise! I can remember before paying my mortgage off having to pay 16%.... That was crippleing I can tell you!

It helps to have a few side lines also. (My main job pays well - but every little helps!) The Website I'm currently working on will net me £1400 - and have 3 more lined up from the same company. (Though the amounts for those will be much less) Should still see over £3K from one deal though!

Unfortunately there is a sting in the tail of that one! My mortgage is a "smart mortgage". The compete mortgage is covered by savings (plus approx £60K on top), however the repayment tool is an endowment policy.

I'll be paying a huge chunk of my savings to pay off banker incompitence. Approx 50% of the amount if should cover. (Wow - whatever happened to the 40% bonus on top I would be getting!) will come from my savings.

Not particuarly happy about that - particularly after having £30K in Railtrack shares "stolen" from me by the government!

I should be sitting on a nice little nest egg!!!

Better example than my own for utility bills!

I would say nice one - but then it wouldn't sound quite right!!:p

thats not really alot but your wage is smaller then mine.

not a big fan of credit cards either, fast way to debt brah.

our water rates were 300 summin last year. Essex and suffolk water. They've increased immensely a couple of years ago were 200 or so. Haven't yet had the bill for this year... hope it isn't 500+. Your other bills are all similar to ours.

Bad move. Credit card gives free insurance cover and an interest free loan for a month - since I never run up a debt and pay the card off every month. I'd rather the cash be in my account rather than someone else's till.
