My Sister in law who works for Marks & Spencers has informed me that they are holding a 20% discount day on the Thursday of next week.

Said she wasn't supposed to say anything, but I thought I would share this in case any one is thinking of buying something from them it may be worth your while to hold off and see if this is the case.

I hope she is right about this, I love their Cava!!

Thanks for the heads up

Thanks. The last time they did this was it 20% off online as well?

Many thanks for the post.

Thanks op need to get some stuff so will def wait til thurs !

great! thanks for the heads up:thumbsup: was going to stock up on summer clothes for the grandchildren - will wait untul Thursday now. Heat given:thumbsup:

20% off what? Everything (including electricals)?

Can she be more specific? Is this nationwide, is it online/instore, and on what product ranges is it on? It seems unlikely that this will be on food and drink - sorry protoceratops!

Online or instore?

hope its online no M&S near me.

thanks for the heads up!

Don't worry, your secret is safe here.

Not wanting to rain on the parade but I work for M&S and have heard nothing to suggest there will be a 20% day next Thursday. As the Penny Bazaar promotion is running Wednesday - Friday I don't see why they would hold a 20% day at the same time.

Thanks for the tip, hope it's online too as I am becoming more lazy as I get older

Likewise, not to discredit the OP, but this is 90% poppycock.
Check my previous posts - I'm reliable for M&S offers - and with the Penny Bazaar, 20% off ALL Homeware + Dine in For £10 all happening on Thursday it would be ridiculous to pile this on at late notice too.

20% off next Thursday is VERY unlikely.

I think you've confused this with 20% off all Homeware which will definately happen next Thursday over the whole Bank Holiday.
(heat and rep if i'm right please! )

I just asked her again and she says it is on everything, including online, I remember the last time they did a 20% discount I bought quite a bit of drink and got the discount.

i think you will find this is a 20% off home event which runs over the bank holiday.

The 20% off alcohol is on now - it wont be on next week you can guarantee that.

I agree with this, I also work for m & s and the events happening next week are the Penny Bazaar, the Dine in for £10 starting Thursday and the Bank Holiday Home Event also starting Thursday where there is a minimum of 20% off Home products.

I'm hoping it's off suits too

sorry i too work for M&S and nothing has been said....OP has been given wrong info!!

That's the sort of information that makes me want to kill myself.

Hi,
Apologies, but I work in a senior role (without wanting to disclose info), and can confirm that it is only home, with furniture being up to 40% off - both running over a 6 day period Thursday to Tuesday. Sorry to dissapoint :whistling:

Is that on food as well? We're getting married on Aug 8th, would we be able to pay for the cake next week and get delivery in August?

Long shot I know but it'd be a great help, lol.

Checked on the computer at work this morning this is a none starter

Definitely only on Homeware, 20-40% off; a close relative of mine works in a homeware dept. at an M&S store.

It is a non starter Isn't it, the more I read from other posters, like the senior M&S staff member, the less it does seem likely.

The senior staff member wouldnt dare post on here - be more than their job is worth. Staff have been sacked for similar things posting on Facebook etc.

well..........

i was chatting to my next door neighbour......whose sons,wifes,ex-husbands,nieces,nephew......who used to work in jjb which is next door but one to marks and spencers.........

and he said its probably not gonna happen....

wots that got to do with posting on here, facebook in general you know who the person is as there real name is on it,on this site an anonymous ID saying they are a senior staff member isnt likely to be hunted down by M&S:?

The lord works in mysterious ways :-) I know of a guy who used to post on iii (Interactive Investor) and he used to talk his company down on there (spinning yarns about bad news etc) to drive share prices down, then he would buy the shares and watch them rise again. I have a relative who was a director of said company and he managed to trace him. Was quite a simple procedure as it almost amounted to industrial espionage.

your example above is hardly the same as someone from M&S posting on here to say whether or not hes heard of a deal on thursday:roll:

Does anybody really believe M&S would be good value even if it knocked 20% off everything?

Generally grossly overpriced so cold even if true.

I'm on ghe look out for a electric single built in oven and ceramic hob so would these be in the offer does anyone know?

Thanks

If that person is as senior as they say then they will be forbidden to mention it anywhere - even at home.

You are not just paying for the item - you are paying in the knowledge that the member of staff who works for the manufacturer washed his hands after visiting the loo before proceeding to pack the food items!
