I don't think they're thinking anything through properly. Which is good actually, leaving mile wide loopholes as they go!

I have actually changed form being angry to laughing at the poorly thought out farce being enacted at the Tory conference, to the back ground refrain of 'the mess the labour government left us in'.

It is ironic how the promises of last year's conference - child benefits not to be touched, for instance, have evaporated and the 'changes' will not happen for years; yet but it's to the chorus of ' we must make changes now and cut back public spending'.

Apparently they have found a few million of savings in the NHS so all will be fine!!

What a bunch of economic idiots. Of course the change in child benefits ( if it actually does change; I saw one Tory, on the telly, say that there's a long time before the proposed alterations) will be offset and more, by the married persons allowance.

I wonder if marriage in the newly recognised ( by the relevant authorities, giving charity perks) pagan church will be OK? I wonder if they have thought of removing charity status from churches and public schools?

Master Osbourne looks like a man bereft, as 'good old Vince' isn't by his side.

My laughter is hollow BTW. Oh and what happenend to parliamentary debate of tax and economic changes? Yes, the Con Dem Nation is pretty much as expected.

I can't take any political thread seriously that states "Bring back Brown" oO

Didn't we used to have married tax break? Although i doubt the amount saved on child benefit will be anywhere near what they give for the tax break. I actually think its a good thing the child benefit cuts.

My brother in law is on 100k+ a year, so why should he get child benefit?

The child benefit cuts are up to 44k for one person therefore a couple could still be on a total of 87k and recieve child benefit. Anything over that and its stopped, bloody right too!

    jellybaby22

im going to lose my child benefit So it will be nice to get something … im going to lose my child benefit So it will be nice to get something back

    What does that mean?

What the gvmt should do is pay child benefit to the first two children only. Parents who have more than two children can obviously afford to look after them or why would they keep having more?? I have nothing against big families as long as they are not claiming off the state for all of their children.

What they have done with this decision is is isolate successful people (who have worked hard and no doubt studied hard for their money). They should address the people who have 3 & 4 children and have not got jobs and who have absolutely no intention of working.

Vouchers for food, milk etc should be given out instead of cash to make sure that at least the money is going on the child (hopefully), see if that will cut the amount of people having children to claim benefits.

'Bring back Brown' thats a laugh!! - Trouble is no matter who gets in, they have absolutely no common sense and cannot see what the general public can.

lets hope life dont deal you a crap hand an you have to become hypocrites!!!!! life can take a funny turn in a heart beat! dont judge everyone with the jeremy kyle standard...... most of the people on benefits would tell you they wanted so much more from life!!!!

Its not about life dealing a crap hand, I have nothing against people on benefits, but there are thousands out there who do not want to work and have not intention of working - benefits are there to help people when they need it - it is not supposed to be a life long payment.

I have known people who have worked all their life and god forbid they have had to try and claim anything when they could have done with a bit of help through illness, uemployment etc.

There are people out there who know how to work the system and this will continue as long as they are getting hand outs.

Have to agree wholeheartedly about your comments about Jeremy though

i sort of agree with everything you have said, and i am a single mum on beneft, but dont belive this is the way to sort out anything, cutting benefits will not encourage those that dont want to work to work, and those that want to work arent going to be able to find a job just because their benefits have been cut, where this country has gone wrong is that it no longer encourages family values, bring that back and we may get somewhere

i have worked hard, still am really, at the moment im trying to get some sort of college course but do you think the people ring back when they promise to do they hell

the job centre has a lot to answer for a lot of them dont give a toss about helping people with work, benefits or courses

as for working the system your always get people that do that in all areas of life it not just those who choose benefits as a lifestyle choice, but it leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths when other generalise or stero type

I have friends who are single mothers, through no fault of their own, relationships break down, people are made redundant etc. I honestly have compassion for people who need, whether it be short term, or long term (illness etc) and who are claiming.

Everybody will needs some sort of help in their life (if not they are very, very lucky), I do not feel I am being hypocritical just speaking as I find.

That sounds like my wife's worst nightmare of what might happen to me, has been a time I've been in the middle of no where at midnight confronted on my job with a guy holding a knife and a crowbar in the other hand.

She wants me to work days, but the money is in working shifts with nights.

i just get a bit annoyed as when people moan about those on benefits, i feel im being attacked which i prob aint but i do get embarrassed when people ask me what i do for a living or such and such and for someone to say benefits should be in vouchers i just freak out lol

i am trying to find out about college courses and stuff and maybe get a trade that i can work from home with or mobile

it is hard because theres not a lot of help out there if your a carer and i have to be careful how many hours education i do as it could affect our benefits its a minefield
