Never had one

With my first I started at 32/33 weeks, I got fed up

I was supposed to start at 36 weeks but took a few extra days to clear my cases so it was nearer 37 weeks, (she was born four days later so no chance to get anything done!)

with my 1st i worked 1 week up until i gave birth.... with my second i gave in work as soon as i could lol..... but he was really heavy and i put on loads of weight..... he was 10lb 4oz born so was knackering looking after a 1 1/2 yr old and being so heavy

Believe its 15 wks before baby is due. Check on www.direct.gov.uk

you can go earlier than you requested with work. i think its approx 30 weeks.

your employer and doctor and suggest you go earlier as well.

i worked until 1 week before both my sons were born, then again, i work in a call centre so was sat on my ar$e all day LOL

but you can go upto 15 weeks before your due

Best laid plans and all that, but............i was due to go on mat leave at 38 weeks but my son decided at 34 weeks he wanted to arrive early in the world!!!

Good job I left work early that day!

My wife put in for hers, with our first child, 2 weeks before due date. Poor cow only got 1 day before waters broke.

:w00t: Jeez :w00t:

I left 4 weeks before. Was meant to be relaxing for me....

She came 2 weeks early - i was in and outta hospital for two weeks.

Relaxing? NOPE!!

i went at 30 weeks..i was bored.. but my job was way too stressful and too far on bus ..lol

I left 5 weeks before. IMO wayyyyyyyy too early, went 2 weeks over so a 7 week wait. Was boring! Best of luck

Personally - I'd woke for as long as you feel you could - hide to judge i know.

More time with the baby after

i left at 29 weeks, that was the earliest then! might be different now though

I worked in a shop and worked 2 weeks b4 my due date but my last 4 weeks before that I dropped down to 4 days by using up some holiday! Then she was 10 days late!!!!
Good luck though xxxx

I'm only entitled to 4 months maternity leave, so if I get preggo I'll be working till the end to have as long as possible at home with the baby before I need to go back.

3 weeks before my due date, and working in a warehouse. Went into labour a couple of days before due date. My hubby started his paternity 1/2 shift earlier than he should have!

that was what i did. Had to go back asap after, so left it as late as poss before i started my leave.

I went with my first 5 weeks early but my waters went 4 days later n she was delivered 3 days after that. My second I was advised to give up by midwife as was extremely large as he was 10lb 3oz n a week late. Let yr body and yr midwife tell u

how long is maternity leave these days??

Up to 52 weeks

9 months paid - 6 weeks at 90% of your wages - 33 weeks at £123.06
10 weeks - i believe unpaid but not sure

]Linkie

I worked right up to all my births and was back at work soon as I could afterwards, within a few days.

The urgency of being self-employed. No work, no earn.
