Maths problem

could anyone help me with this sum please. I've been racking my brain and can't figure out how to do it.

For arguements sake I have £600 to share out between 6 people that has been collected over 12 months.
However one of these people only contributed for 7 months out of the 12 and another contributed to 6 months out of 12.....and there share should be reflected as such.
The other 4 should have an equal share.

How much does each person receive.

total months contributions: 4x12 - the full contributers, +7 +6
= 61months of contributions.

so divide total by 61 to get value of 1 months contribution of units 'bought', then multiply that amount by the number of months paid by each person.

amount to share out divided by 61 (total of months paid - 4x12, 1x6, 1x7)

That figure (using £600 total would be £9.83

£9.83x12 for the four who paid 12 months
£9.83x7 for 7 months
£9.83x6 for 6 months

Somebody else will come along with a better formula/calculation I'm sure
Thank you both so much. Racking all day since 7am to think of the solution. Many many thanks. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

'better' wont be as helpful as understanding the underlying numbers

Doing it like that gives too much change left over because of rounding down the numbers.

You'd then have to share out the 37p

The person contributing for 7 months gets £68.87
