    Mattress advice from parents needed

My girls both had basic mattresses that came with their bunks so when night time potty training we just used the pampers bed sheets,

My son has a mega expensive mattress on his bed and tonight decided no more nappies, but I really don't want to ruin this mattress at all.

The girls ended up having new mattresses after training due to the pampers sheets moving so they got wet.

Can I ask what decent sheet you use to fully protect the mattress? I can't use a PVC sheet as he is a sweaty kid. I don't mind paying a little price for it as long as it does the job!

When my kids were just out of nappies I just used a waterproof sheet, I got a terry one, think the make was silent night, the waterproof bit isn't like the ones you used to get when we were younger. That saved my wee ones expensive mattress anyway.

i use a waterproof one aswell, its the full size of the matress and fits like a bed sheet (you put your bedsheet on the top so this is all you have to wash if they do wet the bed)
the only bad thing about them is they can be a bit noisey when kiddies are rolling round in bed.
you can get them for a few quid on ebay

We had a terry one too, they are not crinkly or sweaty, I would stick a normal sheet on top as his was a bit itchy after a few washes.

You can get quilted waterproof mattress protectors but they aren't cheap I think ours was about £35 each, I need one myself has I suffer night sweats due to medications I have to take.

Just noticed a better quality silent night one is only 2p more there >>>HERE<<<

aww thank you, I will have to look for them, I don't want his mattress starting to smell as its a really good one that should last him a few more years.

I got quilted waterproof ones of Ebay when my foster son was being night trained, only £9.99 for a double bed

Not noisy and silent......although made him a bit sweaty lol

Thank you I think the one in the link is what my DD had, but made her so sweaty. I don't mind paying a proper price as long as it really keeps his main mattress clean and fresh. I will look at the quilted protectors see what I can find. x

Debenhams do a single one for £23.
My daughter used one of theirs and never complained about it being sweaty - it does say that it is breathable.

both my kids were pretty good and didn't take too long

Thats a good price, I could get that with a cheaper basic quilted mattress protector then a normal sheet on top, Kid shouldn't sweat then lol Saying that little odd ball is still in fleece jammies during the hotter nights!
Hopefully the pampers sheet will do the trick for tonight!

He has been in these for a while, But still calls them babies, He isnt a talker, so its really hard to know whether he knows what you want of him lol. He was 3 in Feb, so just hoping he picks it up quick. He has been dry in days for over a year, just never tried him at night. But he decided tonight was the night!
