    Mattress help!!

I am in the market for a new mattress but I've not got a clue what to get!

For example, is memory foam any good? What's the difference between medium-firm and firm.

What mattress have you got and would you recommend it?

    Help will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Budget of say £300.

    Need a double.

I think it's personal preference really. I like a medium to firm but hubby likes a firm one. (:whistling:) You have to consider your weight too, a cheapy mattress won't last if you are on the heavier side. I love memory foam and a cheaper mattress with a memory foam topper could work for you too .Best thing is to go to a showroom and try a few out. Oh and a firm mattress is better for someone with back problems.

    Thanks. :-D

With memory foam is it worth paying more and getting an extra layer etc?

we just bought this last week-without a doubt the best nights sleep we ever had-its soo comfy-ten year guarantee and free next day delivery anywhere in the uk. comes vaccuum packed-once you break the plastic it takes about an hour for the mattress to get to its proper shape and size.

That seems really good value. I was quoted £500 + for a Kingsize, but i would say still be worth it for good quality sleep.

Would this one be ok on its own, or would you need a further top layer?

I wouldn't put a topper on top of an actual memory foam mattress, there would be no point really. I would put one on an ordinary sprung type to firm it up and give an even support.

Thanks, not done much research on this, but how would teh mattress above compare to this one? tjhughes.co.uk/fcp…264. Note the silentnight one is 20cm deep but with 3cm memory foam, is this any good?

I have pure latex ones which are now around £1200-£1300 for a single for an electric bed!!! My new ones are still awaiting me to bed them in but my older one is sooooooo lovely my body just sinks into it and I know no bugs can live in there either!! BONUS>>>>>>>>>.

I really researched wot to buy and unless I had Tempur I was told not to buy any memory foam as they lose elasticity quickly, make you sweat and take months to get used to, but that can be said for latex too!
