Max output with electric fires.

I want to replace my electric fire with a more powerful one, mine currently has a output of 2kw, what is the maximum output on these electic fires. (its monuted in a marble surround in the living room)

Is that expensive to run much consider 40p an hour?

twice as much, can you afford that, if so perhaps you should get central heating installed? a cheaper option would be to buy an additional radiator specifically an oil filled radiator as they retain their heat for longer.

ive got central heating installed, but really just need the living room warm. oil filled radiator may be the way forward.

Have you not got thermostatic radiator valves? I'm sure it's cheaper to heat your room using your boiler this way. Just turn all your other radiators off, but leave the radiator in the room with your room thermostat on also.
